Office 365 email failure affects some US users

Some users claimed on Twitter that Office 365 e-mail is currently experiencing serious delays, which has occurred in many parts of the United States.

The reporter's investigation found that the e-mail failure encountered by these users has lasted for more than six hours. New York was also one of the places where the failure occurred. Later, the reporter tried to use e-mail. Except that the My Office 365 status panel could not be operated, there was no failure in sending and receiving e-mail.

DownDetector.com shows that Office 365 has had problems connecting to Exchange, Outlook and servers since 10:30 a.m. EDT on Thursday.

One user said that his company's email had problems since 11:30 a.m. EDT. See the figure below. Another affected user said that it was not easy to see his Exchange Online status panel, which showed that the service had been in trouble since about 10:30 a.m.

A Microsoft spokesman said Thursday morning that some users experienced delays in sending and receiving e-mail, but the service is being restored.

In addition, Microsoft's status information indicates that "part of the infrastructure responsible for handling Exchange Online Protection (EOP) information filtering has deteriorated, resulting in mail transmission delays." This message increases the subset of affected users, while Microsoft is "restarting services to restore the affected infrastructure to a healthy state."

An hour earlier, Microsoft rerouted the connection between the exit and the entrance in an attempt to alleviate this problem. Microsoft officials said they were reviewing the logs to isolate the potential cause of the problem.

Subsequently, Microsoft said that it had confirmed that the latest upgrade of the environment had led to the EOP process efficiency of an e-mail analysis being lower than the acceptable threshold, which led to the queuing of e-mail entry and exit information. In this regard, Microsoft said that it has optimized to allow existing e-mail queues to process and monitor these queues to ensure that all information is delivered and the service is fully restored.

At present, unexpected Exchange Online users in the United States have also been affected. If users' e-mail accounts are hosted in Microsoft's North American data center, these users may also be affected.
