Simple operation and maintenance of American HS machine room server

The maintenance of the server in the computer room is the key point of the operation and maintenance of the computer room. How to ensure that the server keeps the best state at any time, and how to improve the service life and speed of the server through some simple maintenance? Let's discuss the simple operation and maintenance methods of the computer room server.

1. About Power

(1) Regularly check whether the mains power and UPS power supply in the machine room are stable, and make records. The UPS patrol inspection records should be implemented to individuals. Ensure the stable operation of the server hardware system, and ensure the normal operation of the server for 8 hours after the power outage.

(2) In case of mains power interruption, if there is no special matter, please try to shut down the server to avoid equipment damage caused by excessive temperature.

(3) Check the power switches, electrical appliances and lines once a month. If any unsafe factors such as fault, aging, damage and poor insulation are found, they must be reported for repair in a timely manner, and records must be made to eliminate potential safety hazards.

(4) The power supply and socket in the machine room are dedicated to the equipment in the machine room. It is not allowed to connect the power cord or disassemble the power cord without permission. At the same time, it is not allowed to use water at will in the machine room. It is necessary to check the air-conditioning condensate pipes and windows frequently to prevent water from flowing into the machine room

2. Temperature and humidity control

The temperature of the machine room should be controlled within 20-25 ℃, and the humidity should be controlled between 45-55%.

3. Dust prevention and removal

(1) As the basic hardware of the whole device, the cleaning of the motherboard is the easiest to cause problems due to dust accumulation on the motherboard, which is also the easiest to collect a large amount of dust. When cleaning the motherboard, first remove all connectors, and number the removed devices to prevent confusion.

(2) Treatment of connectors The surface of connectors can be cleaned in the same way as that of the mainboard. If there is oxidation in the connector part, the golden finger can be carefully wiped with a rubber. After inserting back into the mainboard, fill the gap on both sides of the slot with hot melt adhesive to prevent dust entry and oxidation during use.

(3) Cleaning of the fan A large amount of ash is usually accumulated inside and outside the fan blades. We can use our hands against the blades to wipe off the ash on the blades one by one with a brush, and then wipe the fan and the inside of the fan frame with a wet cloth. Some lubricating oil can also be added to the shaft to improve its performance and reduce noise. The specific oil filling method is as follows: open the oil baffle to see the fan shaft, rotate the blade by hand and drop a little lubricating oil into the shaft to make it fully permeate. Do not add too much oil, otherwise more dust will be absorbed, and finally stick the oil baffle.

(4) Cleaning of the box surface For the dust on the internal surface of the box, you can use a wrung wet cloth to wipe it. Note that the wet cloth should be as dry as possible to avoid residual water stains. After wiping, it should be dried with a hair dryer.

(5) Cleaning of peripheral plugs and sockets For these peripheral sockets, generally use a brush to remove the topsoil, and then use a hair dryer to clean them. If there is oil stain, it can be removed by degreasing cotton ball dipped with absolute alcohol.

Note: detergent can also be used for cleaning, but it must be neutral, because acidic substances will corrode the equipment, and the volatility of detergent must be good.

(6) The power supply is very easy to accumulate dust and is seriously affected by temperature. When disassembling the power supply, be sure to pay attention to the internal high voltage. If you do not have some professional knowledge, do not disassemble it without permission. If it is not disassembled, the strong gear of the blower can be used to blow out dust at the power inlet, and the hard brush can be used to clean the fan blades through the fan filter screen.

4. Tips for improving server speed

(1) Hardware upgrade

This may be the most direct way to improve performance, but it is also the best way. You only need to add RAM or faster hard disks to your server, and the calculation will be faster. Of course, if you can replace a higher model of processor, it will be faster. Of course, there are a lot of things to pay attention to.

(2) Disable unnecessary services

In addition to occupying valuable RAM, some services may occupy CPU cycles, even when idling. If you do not need them, disable them.

(3) Compile from source code

Some applications are optimized if you compile them from source code instead of using generic binaries. An optimized application is usually faster than standard settings.

(4) Optimize web server and database server

You can ensure that your web application runs faster and as efficiently as possible through the optimization of the web server and database server.
