Toyota Nissan will cooperate with the Japanese government to develop smart maps

On the morning of April 11, Beijing time, the Japanese Economic News reported that Toyota and Nissan would cooperate with the Japanese government to develop smart maps by 2018. Intelligent map technology is the key to the realization of autonomous vehicles.

It is reported that Japanese automobile manufacturers, mapping companies and the Japanese government will cooperate to produce standardized intelligent maps, which will introduce driving data collected by automobile manufacturers.

The intelligent map system provides the information needed to control the driverless vehicle. The driverless vehicle will be equipped with a road detection sensor to track the traffic and road conditions.

Bosch, a German auto parts supplier, said on Friday that it was negotiating with HERE, a digital map manufacturer, to study whether to buy shares.

Audi under Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz and BMW under Daimler, as well as Continental, an auto parts supplier, are also developing automatic or semi-automatic driving technology.
