HP CEO: May cooperate with Amazon and Google in cloud computing

The previous agreement between HP Enterprise and Microsoft revealed the latest development plan of CEO Meg Whiteman in the cloud computing market. Now, she also revealed that the company is open to public cloud cooperation with Amazon and Google.

Last December, as part of the new agreement, Hong Kong VPS HP Enterprise decided to cooperate with Microsoft to sell Microsoft's Azure cloud computing services. Whitman said that the cooperation went smoothly and helped the company carry out business in Germany and other places. HP Enterprise said last October that due to fierce competition, it will stop providing public cloud functions, but will still provide other cloud computing services and products.

"In time, we may have some cooperation with Google and Amazon." Whitman said in an interview at the Discover 2016 annual meeting on Tuesday, "In many ways, they are not enterprise companies. But they may enter this field, which I know is their ambition."

Amazon took the lead in expanding the public cloud market, and Whitman is also exploring new ways to expand this fast-growing industry. She is investing in potential growth areas and exiting areas with poor prospects, so as to enhance the flexibility of HP Enterprise and adapt to changes in customer preferences. With the help of public cloud, enterprises can easily purchase external computing and storage resources provided by Amazon and Microsoft through the Internet.

"In order to be more flexible and rapid, we must reduce the scale," she said. "The smaller the scale, the faster the speed."

The company announced last month that it would spin off its enterprise services division and merge it with Computer Sciences Corp. The transaction was worth $8.5 billion. This is also part of Whitman's overall plan to reduce the size of the company. They hope to release more resources to invest in emerging fields such as the Internet. Whitman said that enterprises and consumers are using more and more networking devices, and HP Enterprise has enough resources to succeed in this market.

"We will double our bets on the Internet of Things market," Whitman said.
