Docker and Alibaba Cloud Docker Hub services are launched in China

Docker recently launched container services in China through cooperation with Alibaba Cloud, the largest cloud computing provider.

Founded in 2009, Alibaba Cloud is currently the largest public cloud provider in China. The company said that it is building an extensive partnership with Docker and will deploy Docker Hub on Alibaba Cloud platform by providing Docker image file storage technology, so as to upgrade the user experience of Chinese developers.

This move has attracted the attention of the industry. Because Docker Hub is the central public repository of Docker images, it is considered to play a crucial role in the extension of Docker container applications. The main advantage of Docker Hub is that it provides developers with access to thousands of free and available open source container applications. Through cooperation with Alibaba, Docker is providing these same applications to Chinese developers, thus expanding the audience of its technology.

"As enterprises in China and around the world begin to modernize their application environments, the demand for a simple solution to deploy Docker on Alibaba Cloud is growing," Sicheng Yu, vice president of Alibaba Group and global general manager of Alibaba Cloud, said in a statement. "Our cooperation with Docker will provide enterprise level users with comprehensive lifecycle management, and expand existing facilities to enterprise production.

Docker Hub service on Alibaba Cloud platform was launched in China, and then Docker launched its commercial support product Docker Datacenter in China. The Docker data center includes a general control plane for management, a Docker trusted registry for application image and a Docker engine for commercial support. Docker calls it "containers as a service", which improves the security of applications without sacrificing agility or application portability Strategic and life cycle control.

Nick Stinemates, vice president of Docker's business development and technology alliance, said that this partnership is a key step to realize the local deployment of applications that "write once, run anywhere" or run in the cloud. The strategic cooperation between the two sides will allow organizations to use Docker and Alibaba Cloud to container legacy applications and build new microservices.
