Resumption of the "mooncake" event

On September 12, four students from the Security Department and one student from the Alibaba Cloud security team "arrived" 133 boxes of mooncakes in the internal activity of "killing mooncakes in seconds" by writing script code.

Liu Zhenfei, the chief risk officer, and Hu Xiaoming, the president of Alibaba Cloud, made a decision to persuade the above-mentioned students to quit after a very frank communication with them. This is not an easy decision to make, nor a decision that can be understood by all parties. This decision also makes the company once again become the storm eye of public opinion.

From the company's intranet, Weibo and WeChat, Zhihu, we have been watching all kinds of attention and discussion on this matter. Today, the group spent 4 hours to review and discuss this matter. Xiaoyaozi, Dai Shan, Xingdu, Zhenfei, Guo Jing, Wang Jian, Wang Shuai, Ma and I were all involved. In the end, we chose to support the decision of Zhenfei and Xiaoming. We read and heard feedback from all walks of life, and also reviewed and reflected on what we had not done well before and after making this decision, which caused many colleagues to worry that we were too paranoid about adhering to values and would harm the tolerance culture that encourages innovation. To be honest, we also argue, tangle and feel uncomfortable.

Many people ask why we deal with such a heavy workload? Because Ali is a company that really devolves its power to every ordinary second-hand company, the foundation of decentralization is the instinctive trust between the organization and employees. Only a team based on trust can go far and fight hard. Because only authorization can serve customers well and make quick and effective decisions according to customer needs faster. However, we must remind ourselves repeatedly that we should treat our power well, cherish others' trust in us and cherish our talents just like we cherish our own eyes, not to mention our colleagues in the security department who take the responsibility of attacking and defending the cyber black industry and anti cheating.

In the future, we will continue to fully trust and authorize our colleagues. In this process, we may also make some decisions that make the company in the eye of the storm, because we do not do it for others to see, but respect the trust between everyone, the same idea, and follow the original intention and heart of doing things and being a person.

Companies, like people, are imperfect. We are lucky to have today's influence by doing every little thing right with our own heart; In the future, if we can not maintain a sense of awe, but take our own convenience and benefits as the primary consideration, it will also be a seemingly inconspicuous little thing to deconstruct and defeat the struggle of all people.

Sometimes people are reluctant to face the result of unintentional actions, which is the most frustrating. It should be the biggest regret of the Mid Autumn Festival to see your friends off at the full moon night. I sincerely hope and believe that the setbacks in this career and life journey can make these young people think farther and go more reliably. Every colleague of Alibaba should also understand, because the journey is long and the responsibility is heavy. Only by learning to restrain our own desires, respecting our own abilities, and fearing the power in our hands can we bear the trust and trust of hundreds of millions of customers.
