1、 Overall development
As of the end of February 2017, there were 40268 enterprises with value-added telecommunications business licenses nationwide, including 5813 trans regional enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and 34455 local enterprises licensed by provincial (district, city) communication administrations, up 1.04%, 7.17%, and 0.07% respectively from the previous month. Among them, 47 foreign-invested telecommunications enterprises.

2、 Business development
According to the business classification in the Telecommunications Business Classification Catalog (2015 Edition), 40268 value-added telecommunications enterprises in China hold 49462 value-added telecommunications business licenses in total. Among them, there are 26296 information service businesses (Internet information services only), 11348 information service businesses (excluding Internet information services), 3579 domestic call center businesses, 3186 online data processing and transaction processing businesses, 2797 Internet access service businesses (hereinafter referred to as ISP), and 1125 Internet data center businesses (hereinafter referred to as IDC), 1131 other businesses.

3、 Regional development
At present, the unbalanced regional development of the national value-added telecommunications business market is prominent.
Among 5813 trans regional enterprises, 2147 are registered in Beijing, 1052 in Guangdong and 605 in Shanghai. 65.4% of the trans regional enterprises are concentrated in the three regions. The number of trans regional enterprises in Tibet, Qinghai and Xinjiang is still in the single digit.
Among 34455 local enterprises, 6844 are in Beijing, 5044 are in Guangdong. The number of value-added telecom enterprises in Beijing and Guangdong is far ahead of the rest of the country, followed by Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Shanghai and other places. Six places concentrate 61.3% of the local value-added telecom enterprises nationwide, and the local value-added telecom enterprises in the 12 western regions [1] account for only 12.9%

4、 IDC/ISP Development
As of the end of February 2017, there were 1125 enterprises holding IDC business licenses nationwide, including 406 trans regional enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and 719 local enterprises licensed by the provincial (district, city) communication administrations, up 3.69%, 10.03%, and 0.14% respectively from the previous month

By the end of February 2017, there were 2797 enterprises with ISP business licenses nationwide, including 878 trans regional enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and 1919 local enterprises licensed by the communication administrations of all provinces (districts, cities), up 2.79%, 9.34%, and 0.05% respectively from the previous month

The number of cross regional IDC/ISP licensed enterprises accounted for 36.1% and 31.4% of the total number of IDC/ISP licensed enterprises in China respectively, which was far higher than the proportion of cross regional licensed enterprises in the national enterprises (14.4%).
