Under the epidemic situation, IDC enterprises are not qualified to shout hard

At present, with the vigorous and orderly implementation of various prevention and control work, the number of newly reported confirmed cases across the country except Hubei has declined for the eighth consecutive day. Many regional enterprises are gradually returning to work and production, and the impact of the epidemic on various industries and fields is also gradually emerging. Among them, tourism, catering, exhibition and other industries have suffered heavy losses.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the difficulty of epidemic prevention and control in the data center is significantly lower than that in other industries. As an Internet infrastructure, the IDC industry has played an important supporting role in combating the epidemic, and market demand has also risen significantly. However, under the epidemic situation, there are few people who are independent. With the full resumption of enterprises, the negative impact on the IDC industry has also emerged.

What are the "difficult" and "not difficult" aspects of the IDC industry under this epidemic? The author's personal opinion is as follows:.

Not difficult one of: The difficulty of epidemic prevention is relatively low

If IDC company is not discussed, only for the data center, the number of on-site personnel is not large, and the crowd aggregation is low, making the possibility of mutual infection of personnel lower than other personnel intensive industries.

In order to prevent epidemics, many urban communities and villages are currently implementing closed measures, and outsiders are not allowed to enter the area except under special circumstances. The temperature of the entrants is measured and their personal information is registered. However, for the data center, strict entrance and exit registration are already routine requirements.

According to the author, at present, each data center has further tightened the access control, and temperature measurement and disinfection have become the necessary steps to enter. The person in charge of the data center introduced to the IDC circle of China that they currently require that customers are not allowed to enter the site without special circumstances, but are assisted by the personnel on duty. Employees should also apply for authorization in advance when arriving at the point, and strictly register the time of entry and exit. Some data centers use the app online audit process, which is strictly audited by the system, and can only enter the data center and computer room at the application time after passing the audit. The system can also judge whether the visitors come from Hubei and other important epidemic areas, and send a reminder.

The daily operation and maintenance inspection of the data center is periodic and the path is clear, which also greatly reduces the difficulty of disinfection in the data center. It is necessary to remind that 75% of the alcohol recommended by experts for disinfection in this epidemic is flammable, and some disinfectants (such as 84) are corrosive. The former should pay attention to fire prevention when spraying, and the latter should be diluted to the corresponding concentration when spraying. The spraying position should also be careful to avoid corrosion of facilities and machinery.

Not difficult Second: Anti epidemic technology promotes business growth

This point has been discussed quite a lot in China's IDC circle before. As an Internet infrastructure, the data center played an important supporting role during the epidemic.

From the epidemic information release platform to the fresh food app for residents to grab food at home;

From the epidemic intelligence system and big data analysis system used by the government to the medical information system used by hospitals;

From video websites that went down due to the surge in traffic to remote office software that temporarily added servers due to the surge in usage

Even virus sequencing and vaccine research and development are all based on the data center.

Therefore, during the epidemic, the demand received by the data center also increased significantly.

Some cloud data centers receive emergency services from designated hospitals of the Health Commission and COVID-19 cases. In some regions, when deploying epidemic systems on government cloud platforms, cloud vendors and data centers need to race against the clock to complete resource delivery.

Recently, the demand of customers in the data center's video software, fresh app, remote office, online teaching aids and other industries has increased significantly: NaiNai has made two emergency expansion, adding 20000 cloud servers; The Tencent conference urgently expanded more than 100000 virtual machines in 8 days, and invested more than 1 million computing resources; Just today, the Dingdang Express, which has expanded the server capacity by 30 times, is still down due to the 50 times surge in user volume.

Driven by the sudden increase in demand, the utilization rate of cabinets in the data center naturally rises. The head of the market department of a data center revealed in an interview with China's IDC circle that the demand of its head customers increased during the epidemic, and the utilization rate of the platform increased significantly, so it needs to be appropriately expanded in the future.

The stocks of Dataport, Halo Xinnet and other enterprises continued to rise, which also proved that the market was optimistic about the IDC industry under the epidemic.

In this fight against the epidemic, cloud computing, big data and other technologies have played an important role, and governments at all levels have also felt this in the process of joint prevention, control and precise decision-making. The progress of technology will not go back. After the epidemic is over, there will still be considerable demand for telecommuting, telemedicine and other industries, and the demand for "eating the marrow and knowing the taste" government systems will even grow.

Everything has two sides. The epidemic has brought adverse effects on all walks of life, and IDC industry is no exception.

difficulty I Customer visit, data center visit, customer server settlement, difficult

COVID-19 is highly contagious, leading everyone to agree that "there are hidden dangers when you go out, and danger when you meet".

In order to avoid personnel gathering, IDC enterprises can only use remote office for normal office work. Customer visits and interviews naturally need to be avoided, and can only be changed to online. Sales skills such as observation and speech skills will be greatly reduced.

In the first half of this year, business exhibitions, offline salons and other market activities were also affected by the epidemic, and either cancelled or postponed.

Customer demand has increased, but the way to expand new customers has been blocked. I wonder whether the marketing department of IDC now wants to cry or laugh, or cannot cry or laugh? I hope you can speak in the comment area.

There is no problem with the customer server. Many data centers want to say no. After all, with the current epidemic situation, no one can guarantee whether there are asymptomatic infected people in the subway car the other party just sat on. Therefore, it is also a difficult point how to deal with the settlement of client servers and how to prevent epidemics in the process of settlement.

Difficulty 2: Data center construction and procurement, more difficult

Compared with the strict access control and few personnel gathering in the data center, the construction process of the data center can be said to be the opposite: the construction site has a complex composition of personnel, a large number of personnel, and it is difficult to disinfect, so it is conceivable that the epidemic prevention and control is difficult.

Therefore, many regions require the resumption of construction projects to be postponed. Some regions have strict and detailed regulations on the resumption of construction enterprises, such as "testing and recording the health status and track of the personnel on duty, and temperature testing at least twice a day". Some regions require not to resume work before the epidemic is lifted, Of course, the construction of data center projects of enterprises is also limited. It can be predicted that the original completion and delivery time of each data center construction project will be delayed, which will affect the business of data center enterprises throughout the year.

Relevant procurement and bidding are also affected.

Due to the epidemic situation, the author is unable to go deep into the front line of the data center to understand the specific situation for the time being. The above is the result of combing information from multiple sources, and there are many shortcomings.

Do you think the data center is difficult under the epidemic situation?
