Cloud computing market battle: AWS ranks first in the world and AliCloud Asia Pacific ranks second?

According to the new first quarter data from Synergy, in the public cloud service market, ranked by public IaaS and PaaS service revenue, the world's leading AWS is also a leader in the four major regions of the world. Microsoft ranked second in three of the four regional markets, and Google ranked third in three of the regional markets. The ranking of the Asia Pacific region is different from that of other regions, mainly due to the outstanding performance of the Chinese market and the dominant position of China's local cloud providers. Alibaba ranks second in the Asia Pacific region and fourth in the world.

 Public Cloud Ranking

Public IaaS and PaaS are the most important segments in the cloud infrastructure service market, accounting for the majority of the market revenue. The remaining revenue comes from managed or hosted cloud services. In the public cloud market, AWS, Microsoft and Google are more dominant than in the overall cloud market. AWS alone accounts for nearly 40% of the market share, and three companies account for more than 60% of the total. In sharp contrast to other regions in the world, the top five cloud providers in China are all local companies. China currently accounts for one third of the Asia Pacific market, and its share in the Asia Pacific region is growing quarter by quarter.

John Dinsdale, chief analyst of Synergy, said: "Although there are some local data sovereignty and regulatory issues, public cloud computing is essentially a global market. This is a large-scale game. Being a market leader requires a lot of continuous investment, global layout and global brands. Of course, in some specific countries or regions, local problems are conducive to local companies creating niche markets for themselves. In this case, global leaders can usually adopt different local strategies to achieve success. In addition to China, we believe that this is a real global market. "
