Technology giants fight! Huawei and Tencent Conflict over User Data - Haoyou Cloud Computing

On the evening of August 3, according to the "Wall Street Journal", Huawei, the largest technology giant in China, and Tencent, one of the largest Internet giants, argued about the use of user data. At present, the two sides do not compromise. Tencent has complained to Huawei's regulatory authorities. Huawei believes that the product has been tested and there is no dispute.

Controversy focus: user data technology giants are fighting! Huawei and Tencent conflict over user data- Haoyou Cloud Computing

According to media reports, Huawei's Tencent dispute originated from Huawei's Internet mobile phone brand glory. In December 2016, Huawei released the Glory Magic Phone, the first concept of glory released by Huawei's 2012 laboratory, which has developed in the past two years. Magic has redeveloped the Magic Live system based on the Android system, which is the first attempt of Huawei's AI application.

Data conflict

At present, the mobile phone can automatically load the address according to WeChat chat, weather, time and other information; Phone calls, shopping and other related service information can also be prompted. These are the results of in-depth cooperation between Huawei and Kedafei, Gaode, Alipay, Ctrip and other research and development achievements.

Huawei insiders told the 21st Century Business Herald that "the cooperation with other Internet companies is very smooth, and only WeChat has always been difficult to communicate. In the past six months, no agreement has been reached. Not long ago, WeChat also adjusted the Magic interface, resulting in the problem of Magic users using WeChat“

However, according to the "Wall Street Journal", it was revealed that Tencent owners pointed out that Huawei could not only access Tencent data, but also violated the privacy of WeChat users.

So the contradiction is becoming more and more serious.

Tencent and Huawei are headquartered in Shenzhen. At present, we have nearly 1 billion users. Huawei mobile phone is the first mobile phone brand in China.

According to the data analysis provided by Digital Alliance, Huawei mobile phones currently account for 13% of Android users in China, second only to Samsung. Among Huawei mobile phone users, there are more than 60 million WeChat users, and the huge user traffic has become the basis of both sides of the game.

Both parties should not abandon each other

At present, Tencent has asked relevant departments to put forward solutions to the problem because the user data of the two sides are uncompromising.

In a statement in the "Wall Street Journal", Huawei denied violating the user's privacy rights, and said that only after the user is established can it collect relevant company numbers.

"All data should belong to users, not the glory of Tencent or Magic," Huawei said. "Glory Magic data is authorized by users.

Tencent refused to discuss the dispute with Huawei, but said in a statement in the "Wall Street Journal" that "it will protect users' privacy and data information".

"From the perspective of the industry, we are working closely with telecom operators, mobile phone manufacturers, application developers, regulators and other stakeholders to create a healthy ecosystem for users and the entire industry," Tencent said.

According to insiders, "Wall Street Knowledge" revealed that Tencent hopes the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China will participate. However, the person in charge said that the regulator suggested that both sides should deal with the contradiction.

At present, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has not responded to this.

Huawei wants to break the industry monopoly

The value of user data is not needed today. It can help equipment manufacturers to establish an effective basis for AI data, and can also serve as Tencent to track user habits and better sell products and services. Therefore, Huawei Tencent will have more user data. "As more and more companies around the world invest heavily in AI, hardware and Internet companies are becoming more competitive." Huawei said: "We hope that all parties in this ecosystem can participate in industry development, cooperation and discussion of rules."

The boundaries of user privacy and the ability to collect personal data to improve AI technology are hot topics in the industry. These data are considered to be the decisive factor for the success of AI drives, but they are now firmly held by Internet giants.

Wang Yanhui, secretary-general of China Mobile Alliance, said: "The monopoly of data by large Internet companies will eventually affect the development of China's mobile Internet industry."

Glory Magic was launched in December last year, with a price of 3699 yuan. It uses artificial intelligence technology to adapt to the performance of mobile phones. For example, the application on the main screen will automatically move according to the use frequency; Or mobile phone If Thai food is on the SMS, the mobile phone may automatically recommend Thai restaurants nearby.

This means that as a hardware manufacturer, Huawei is entering the field dominated by Internet software companies for a long time. As mobile phones become more and more similar, Huawei and other manufacturers use AI as a key to help their products stand out.

This is not the first battle between Chinese giants. Apple's situation is different. Huawei's recent devices do not support users to use WeChat fingerprint payment function. Those familiar with Huawei and Tencent data storage terms cannot agree.
