South Korea Busan Port Authority plans to build a data center

Busan is a large port city in South Korea and the second largest city in South Korea after Seoul. Busan Port Authority announced on May 17 that it plans to establish a data center to improve competitiveness through data analysis.

The new data center will be used to store and analyze information about the latest trends of shipping companies to increase container transportation, identify business barriers and improve productivity.

The data center is expected to start construction later this year. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in August, and the last two phases are expected to be completed in 2019.

The data center will collect relevant data about ports and shipping, and will include determining the maximum arrival time of trailers and the time when goods move in Busan Terminal. This will benefit the operation of shipping companies and terminal operators, shorten waiting time and improve productivity.

In addition, the integrated search engine system will allow shippers and carriers to check the schedule of transport terminals and make reservations through the integrated system without having to go through the official website.

The Korean data center has the fastest network in the Asia Pacific region, and more than two fifths of enterprise customers have at least 1Gbps of network bandwidth. Its market has also received attention from Amazon and other Web Services and Microsoft Azure and other public cloud service providers. Microsoft operates data centers in Busan.
