Rural domestic sewage treatment and black and odorous water body treatment are important tasks to thoroughly fight the battle of agricultural and rural pollution control, and important basic work of rural residential environment improvement. In recent years, Ningxia has actively promoted the treatment of rural domestic sewage and black and odorous water bodies, constantly improved policies and systems, and built a large number of rural environmental protection infrastructure.

According to the data issued by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, since 2018, Ningxia has successively allocated 1.012 billion yuan in compensation for rural domestic sewage treatment, implemented 351 sewage treatment projects, built 377 treatment facilities, built 3632 kilometers of sewage pipe network, built 95059 tons/day of sewage treatment capacity, 12100 tons/year of COD reduction, and benefited more than 371000 farmers, The beneficiary population is more than 1.22 million. In addition, all 27 rural black and odorous water bodies in Ningxia have been brought into national supervision, and 19 have been rectified, with a completion rate of 70.4%.
