Why was our opening ceremony not on September 1, but on September 3? Why was our ceremony not in the auditorium, not in the playground, but under the martyr memorial tower?"

On October 14, the network theme publicity and interactive guidance activity of "Writing Youth on the Land of the Motherland" was held in Sichuan University. At the activity site, Wang Zirui, a student of Anhui Yezhai Middle School, raised this question.

It turns out that September 3 is the anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the victory of the World Anti Fascist War. In order to remember the heroes, each new student will come to the memorial tower to take an oath under the leadership of teachers and instructors. Such special, warm blooded and profound activities are often held in this school.

Influenced by the school activities and promoted by the seniors and sisters, Wang Zirui joined the Military Society. Soon after, she was qualified to represent Anhui Province in the 8th National Student Military Training Camp.

She trained for 14 days in the University of Aerospace Engineering of the Strategic Support Force with her longing for military life. He participated in many activities such as medical rescue, orienteering, live ammunition shooting, talent show and hosting.

Wang Zirui can only use one word to describe the long 14 day training: tired. The uniforms were all white marks left by sweat, and the skin was also black in two colors. But after hard work, she finished the training with the first place in Anhui Province.

This year, there were 762 graduates from Anhui Yezhai Middle School, 133 of whom applied for the military academy. About one in six students applied for the military academy, and finally 20 students were admitted to the military academy and wore military uniforms.

"In our school, the students who apply for the military school are the 'idols' of other students. Students often meet on the playground to exercise their physique, and they always hear students imagine their future military school life." said Ge Xudong, a teacher of the school.

On July 16, the students who were admitted to the military academy agreed to go back to school, and said in a chat: "So many of us were admitted to the military academy, and wrote a letter to General Secretary Xi Jinping, who must be very happy to hear it." Just do what you say, and the voice of 20 students flew from the Yezhai Post Office to Beijing.

"I didn't expect that on August 31, General Secretary Xi Jinping really replied!" Wang Zirui was very excited when he learned that General Secretary Xi Jinping replied. Since childhood, under the influence of her family, she is full of infinite yearning for the military life with a touch of green. So she was determined to be admitted to the National University of Defense Technology. When someone asked her, would it be a pity if she could not dress up and wear beautiful skirts like ordinary girls if she applied for military academy in the future? She replied, "No, in my opinion, armed is more beautiful than red!"

Wang Zirui, a middle school student, does not like red clothes but arms. He is determined to join the army. Roger, a college student who is a few years older than her, has the same firm belief as Wang Zirui, that is, to walk into the mountains and send warmth and hope to children.

A few years ago, on the stage of the Youth Song Festival of Sichuan University, Yi students from Daliang Mountain and their volunteer teacher, Roger, a 2019 doctoral student from the School of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University, sang the song "The Promise of Dashan".

It turned out that the Yi children in his volunteer class agreed with the volunteer teacher that they would study hard to enter the university in the future and continue their studies in the city where the volunteer teachers work.

Back in 2016, after layers of selection, he became the head of the 18th Sichuan University postgraduate teaching delegation and went to Daliang Mountain to carry out volunteer teaching. Since Daliang Mountain is located in a remote area, children have fewer opportunities to go out of the mountain to learn about the outside world, and there are fewer extracurricular books in school. Many students have not formed the habit of reading.

Once Roger came to the classroom with an extra-curricular magazine. The cover of the book was "Future City", which attracted many students' attention. After class, the children stopped him and borrowed the book. In a short time, the whole class read the magazine all over.

Seeing that children are so interested in extracurricular books, Roger and the team members decided to build a small "library" for children. Seven volunteer teachers worked overtime day and night and weekends, raised more than 5000 books suitable for primary school students to read, and established book corners in nearly 40 classes throughout the county.

Later, he also held a reading festival and a reading sharing meeting in the school, hoping that through these activities, children can love reading, understand the outside world and get out of the mountain as soon as possible. "In our opinion, what is built for children is not just a book corner, but a better future for them."

Zhaojue County, where the volunteer group is located, has been in subzero temperature for a long time because of its high altitude and steep terrain. Roger and his team members' mobile phones are often turned off automatically because of the cold. Once he saw some children running and laughing at the school gate, which made him puzzled. The school teacher told him that the children were not shy because they did not have thick clothes and wanted to generate heat through running, otherwise they felt very cold.

He learned that children in some poor villages and towns only wear clothes all the year round, which made him feel uncomfortable. Later, he launched a fund-raising campaign, collecting more than 9000 pieces of clothing, more than 400 quilts and more than 1000 pairs of gloves for children.

In the year of teaching support, Roger led the teaching support group to raise materials and donations worth more than 1 million yuan, helping more than 300 poor students return to campus.

"Many people ask me what is the meaning of volunteer education? My answer is: Go, young man, go to the deep mountain to make a lamp to illuminate the children's future! Go to the deep mountain to sow the seeds of" curiosity ", and then wait for them to take root, sprout and blossom!" He said.

While Roger joined the graduate student volunteer group to carry out volunteer education, Fan Xiaokang, a graduate of Tarim University, also made a decision to stay in Kashgar, Xinjiang and participate in grass-roots work.

"I compare myself to Populus euphratica, whose spirit is hard work, self-improvement, rooting in the frontier and willing to contribute." Fan Xiaokang has been working in the villages and towns of Jiashi County, Xinjiang since graduation. Over the past seven years, he has worked in four townships and five villages. When he first came to the grass-roots level after graduation, he experienced the adaptation and tempering of harsh environmental conditions such as language barrier, food barrier and drinking barrier.

In August 2016, on the first day of his arrival in the village, the villagers smiled and said to him, "Son, are you 20 years old and will you be a secretary?"

This sentence in Uyghur made Fan Xiaokang realize that in Jiashi County, where 99% of the Uyghurs live, even communication with villagers is a problem. "For the first time in my life, I feel so helpless and confused, and I don't know where to go."

In order to overcome various difficulties, Fan Xiaokang went deep into the masses every day, working in the fields, leading village cadres and volunteers to help farmers in need to harvest wheat in the hot summer, and his face peeled off; In the autumn harvest season, I helped farmers harvest corn overnight, and my arms were too tired to lift. When he was working, he ran into a water shortage in the village. He didn't wash his face and went to work after eating some dry Nang; Seeing that farmers lack help in their work, they take the initiative to help; Sometimes when the deaf elderly living alone are not convenient to buy hearing aids, they will take the initiative to buy and send them; Seeing that some children's academic performance has improved, he will reward them with some school supplies or snacks.

He eats and works with the local people every day, and the people are willing to open their mouths. In this way, he gradually laid a solid emotional foundation with the masses. The masses regarded Fan Xiaokang as their own child, and the children also affectionately called him "well-off Aka".

During his tenure as the secretary of the Party branch of Qinairike Village, Sharptule Town, Jiashi County, he led 114 poor households to cultivate and plant 200 mu of prunus mume nursery with an output value of 16000 yuan. In order to solve the problem of poor quality and low income of Xinmei, he learned planting, pruning, fertilization and other technologies of Xinmei by watching videos on the Internet, consulting experts, field operations and other ways, took scissors and Kantuman to the field to teach themselves, and taught villagers how to manage Xinmei hand by hand. The annual per capita income of the whole village increased by 2428 yuan year-on-year.

In October 2018, Fan Xiaokang had time to say goodbye to the masses due to his job transfer. After he went to his new post, a group of more than ten party members and mass representatives from the village came to visit him twice in three hours, taking local eggs, roosters, sesame Nang, and quilts made of their own cotton. As soon as they got off the bus, they cried, "Son, we came to see you, and we couldn't bear to part with you." They held Fan Xiaokang in the middle, which also made him cry.

Since March this year, Fan Xiaokang has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiashi County and Xiaawati Town, still stationed at the grass-roots level. He said that the sweetness at the grassroots level should be tasted carefully, and everything should be done well. Use your own feet to measure the distance from the masses, and use the weight of the soil on your feet to measure your weight in the hearts of the masses.
