Having children is a particularly energy consuming thing, so women in puerperium will have a lot of discomfort. We should face it calmly and find ways to alleviate these discomfort calmly.

The first is postpartum uterine contraction pain. On the first day of delivery, the fundus of the uterus is about flat umbilicus or about one finger below the umbilicus (the uterus falls into the pelvic cavity about 10 days after delivery). After delivery, uterine contraction of the parturient will cause paroxysmal pain in the lower abdomen, which is called "postpartum uterine contraction pain". During the whole pregnancy, the placenta will attach to the uterine wall to provide nutrition for the fetus. After delivery, a wound will appear on the uterine wall. This wound needs to be healed by the continuous contraction of the uterus, which will cause contraction pain. Generally, uterine contraction pain will appear 1-2 days after delivery, and will disappear naturally after 2-3 days.

In fact, it is a good phenomenon for the body to have postpartum uterine contraction pain, which means that the uterine contraction is good and the uterus will recover quickly in the future, so don't be afraid of postpartum uterine contraction pain. No matter what kind of delivery method you adopt, whether you are giving birth to a child, twins or multiple births, postpartum uterine contraction pain is a good phenomenon.

However, the puerpera should pay attention to distinguish whether it is postpartum uterine contraction pain or acute abdomen. Different pains need differential diagnosis. If the pain goes away after a while, or the child has obvious pain when she eats milk, and feels something flowing out of the perineum, this situation is basically postpartum uterine contraction pain.

However, if it is other types of pain, such as abdominal pain, which is not painful enough, and the kind of pain that has a fork in the air or can not relieve the breath, it may be an acute abdomen. Acute abdomen includes many diseases, such as appendicitis, ovarian cysts, intestinal obstruction, and ectopic pregnancy. Of course, it is impossible for a woman who has just given birth to an ectopic pregnancy, but appendicitis, ovarian cysts and other possibilities cannot be ruled out. So this is the time to go to the hospital for a doctor's diagnosis.

Uterine contraction pain has the characteristics of uterine contraction pain. First of all, it is labor pain. If it stimulates the breast and rubs the stomach, it will hurt. After a while, it will not hurt. If a woman is thin, she can clearly see a hard bulge on her navel when she is in pain, that is, the uterus is contracting; After a while, the uterus became soft, and the pain disappeared.

Then there is the body temperature. When the contractions are painful, the body temperature will be slightly higher than usual, and there will be more sweating. In the first 24 hours after delivery, the maternal temperature will rise slightly, generally not more than 38 ℃. After that, most of the women's temperature will return to the normal range. Because the circulation of the uterus and placenta stops, the parturient is lying in bed, so the pulse is slightly slow at this time, 60~70 times per minute, and the breathing is 14~16 times per minute. The blood pressure is stable with little change. If you are a patient with pregnancy induced hypertension, your blood pressure will drop significantly. In the early postpartum period, the skin has a strong excretory function, which will produce a lot of sweat, especially at night. This is a normal physiological phenomenon, and it will disappear within a week of postpartum. So we must pay attention to personal hygiene, bathing is a necessary thing.

The pain of perineal wound is also a must for mothers. Some primiparas need lateral episiotomy due to poor perineal distensibility or large fetus, which will leave the wound of lateral episiotomy. Even if there is no lateral perineum incision, the fetus will cause some damage to local tissues when passing through the vagina and perineum. As for how to care for these birth injuries, I will talk about it in detail in the section "Imperfect birth injuries require correct care".

And constipation and hemorrhoids. In the first few days after delivery, almost all the parturients had constipation, because most of them had hemorrhoids due to the pressure of the fetal head in the late pregnancy. Therefore, the parturient who has a natural delivery can supplement more liquid and eat some vegetables and fruits to improve from the day of delivery. As long as the physical condition permits, get out of bed as early as possible to exercise, which can also relieve constipation. How to prevent constipation is described in detail in the chapter of "Prevention of Postnatal Diseases, Good Luck through Difficulties".

Difficulty in urination is also an unspeakable problem for many pregnant women. Postpartum urine volume increased significantly, and some mothers affected urination due to perineal wound pain, or because of caesarean section catheterization. To prevent urinary retention, urinate early. If you have difficulty urinating, you can sit up to urinate, or use warm water to flush the vulva, or turn on the tap to listen to the sound of running water to urinate. If necessary, acupuncture or medicine can be used to help you urinate. As for this aspect, the following chapter "Prevention of postpartum diseases, adversity makes good" will also be detailed.

In addition, 2 to 3 days after delivery, they began to secrete more breast milk. At this time, most mothers had to face breast swelling and pain. We advocate breastfeeding and start milk as soon as possible. The baby can suck the nipple half an hour after delivery, which can cause lactation and lactation reflex as soon as possible, promote the secretion of milk, and is also conducive to uterine contraction.

With so much discomfort, fatigue is inevitable. In addition, childbirth itself is an individual labor force. Due to physical overdraft, mothers will feel very tired and sleepy. Therefore, we will emphasize that the purpose of puerpera's confinement is to give them a period of rest and recovery.

   Tips for confinement

In the first few days after delivery, almost all the puerpera have constipation. This is due to the late pregnancy, or the pressure of the fetal head during childbirth, poor venous drainage, and most of the pregnant women have hemorrhoids. Therefore, the parturient who has a natural delivery can supplement more liquid and eat some vegetables and fruits to improve from the day of delivery.
