According to media reports, on March 3, a 6-year-old boy fell from a window on the 13th floor of his home in a community in Xingsha Street, Changsha County, and died.

On the evening of February 27, a tragedy occurred in the Joy City Mall in Nankai District, Tianjin. Due to the negligence of their father, two children fell from the fourth floor to the first floor of the basement and died on the spot, which is deplorable.

In recent years, accidental injuries, especially falling accidents, often happen to children, bringing great grief to some families. So, how should parents take precautions against potential threats?

Strengthen the care and education of children. When parents take their children out to public places, they must take good care of their children and not let them away from their sight. In particular, the fences, elevator doors, escalators, and revolving doors in the shopping malls are all places where children are easy to get out of danger. Keep away from the fence of the mall and both sides of the escalator when holding the child. The glass baffle may not guarantee safety. Try not to let the child lean on it, and try to keep it away from all possible dangerous places such as high places and waterside. When taking care of the child, be sure to concentrate, not be distracted, and try to avoid holding two children at the same time by one person. It is necessary to guide and educate children, let them know where is safe and where is unsafe through vivid stories, and let them consciously stay away from danger.

The basic facilities such as protective railings shall not be less than balconies, verandas, indoor corridors, internal patios, accessible roofs, outdoor stairs and other free places shall be equipped with protective railings. When the free height is less than 24 meters, the height of the railings shall not be less than 1.05 meters; When the free height is 24 meters or more (including middle and high rise residential buildings), the height of the railing should not be less than 1.10 meters, and regular inspection and maintenance should be carried out to avoid aging and loosening.

Do a good job of emergency treatment and nursing naughty children who often run and climb, and are easy to fall. Children aged 3 to 5 years old have poor self balance and are easy to break their heads. This requires parents to concentrate on their children's play and not stare at their mobile phones. A guardrail can also be installed on the bed to prevent children from climbing. In case of an accident, nursing should be carried out according to the injured part. If the head is broken, it should be rushed to the hospital. Do not block and wipe the secretions from the ears and nose randomly, so as to avoid intracranial infection caused by brain fluid backflow. In case of fracture, proper handling and fixation shall be paid attention to.
