Xiaomoyin, an 8-year-old boy in western Hunan, frequently had "daydreams". Recently, he was diagnosed with epilepsy in Hunan Provincial Brain Hospital.

It is understood that Xiaomo has paroxysmal stupor for half a year, which occurs when walking, playing and doing homework, lasting for several seconds and dozens of times a day. In order to clarify his illness, half a month ago, Xiaomo's mother took him to the hospital for medical treatment. The experts in the department of electrobiology and science of the hospital monitored and checked his EEG, and captured the synchronous EEG during the seizure process. Combined with Xiaomo's "daydream" seizure symptoms and EEG performance, they found that Xiaomo's symptoms were not simple "daydream", but because he suffered from "epilepsy classic absence seizure". After half a month of treatment with antiepileptic drugs in the neurosurgery department of the hospital, Xiao Mo's "daydream" attack disappeared.

Experts pointed out that the typical clinical manifestations of absenteeism are mainly ongoing autonomous activities and language stop, staring blankly, dull expression, no response to external stimuli, generally not falling or dropping objects, and the attack usually occurs in the waking state. After receiving regular antiepileptic drug treatment, the seizure control is ideal, and most seizures disappear within 2-5 years, but the treatment requires regular review of EEG.
