Ding Ding, an 11 year old boy who lives in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, recently suffered from abdominal pain and bloody stool. After being sent to the hospital for treatment, the doctor found a symmetrical rash on both legs, which was diagnosed as anaphylactoid purpura. After Ding Ding's condition was stable after treatment, his parents were worried about what to eat and what not to eat. Ren Rongna, deputy director of the Pediatric Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of the PLA and chief physician of pediatrics of Fuzhou General Hospital, explained this.

   "Allergic" disease

Henoch Schonlein purpura (HSP) is a common microvascular allergic hemorrhagic disease, which is allergic vasculitis that invades the small arteries and capillaries of skin and other organs. It is common in children and adolescents. The clinical symptoms are mainly skin ecchymosis, which mostly appear around the lower limb joints and buttocks. Purpura is symmetrically distributed, appears in batches, varies in size, and has different shades of color. It can be fused into patches, and generally subsides within a few days, but can recur. Patients with this disease often have abdominal pain, arthralgia and kidney damage, but the number of platelets does not decrease.

The disease is called anaphylactoid purpura, but most of it is not caused by allergy. The etiology is not clear yet. Although food allergy (eggs, milk, beans, etc.), drugs (aspirin, antibiotics), microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, parasites), vaccination, anesthesia, malignant lesions, etc. are related to the onset of anaphylactoid purpura, there is no exact evidence. Therefore, patients with Henoch Schonlein purpura may affect their normal growth and development if they do not limit their consumption of specific foods analytically, especially protein diet for a long time.

Children in acute stage should eat "vegetarian food"

While treating anaphylactoid purpura, the diet should also be changed according to the development stage of the disease. Each child should check the different inducements before the onset of the disease and adjust measures to individual conditions. Many children with the disease are caused by eating special foods, such as eggs, milk, snacks, fish and shrimp. Therefore, if children suffer from Henoch Schonlein purpura, their diet should be strictly controlled, and they should not eat or eat less foods that are easily inflamed. If there is no clear history of allergy in the past, meat and poultry need not be restricted, as long as attention is paid to avoiding frying, frying and roasting, which is light and easy to digest.

In the acute stage, they only eat vegetarian food, and try not to eat mushrooms, agaric, potatoes, tomatoes and other foods. Once the acute period has passed and the rash no longer appears, the diet can be gradually added for about one month to transition to normal. The growth of children needs to be supplemented with high quality allogeneic protein. Don't be "taboo" for a long time due to unnecessary worries. After purpura is stable, gradually start to eat lean meat, eggs, milk, mushrooms, etc., but gradually add them one by one.

   "Three stage" diet for rehabilitation

For patients with anaphylactoid purpura, the rash continues to subside for about one month, so we can consider adjusting our diet and adding animal protein food. The order of addition is divided into three stages:

The first stage (meat, except mutton): the principle of addition is to gradually increase the variety and food consumption. The sequence of varieties is pork → chicken → duck → beef, that is, after 5-7 days of adding variety 1 (such as pork), there is no rash, then add variety 2 (such as chicken), after 5-7 days of adding variety 2 (such as chicken), there is no rash, then add variety 3 (such as duck), and so on. The amount of food should be small → medium → random.

After one month of adjustment in the first stage, if the condition is stable, the second stage (egg milk) can be entered: the principle of addition is to gradually increase the food intake, and the order of varieties is eggs first, then milk, and the observation time is also 5-7 days.

The third stage (fish and shrimp, mutton): the addition time should be at least 6 months to 1 year after the disease is stable.
