Fungus technology was invented by Lin Zhanxi, a professor of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and is widely used at home and abroad. The fungus technology has been included in five white papers, including "Jointly Building the" Belt and Road ": Major Practice of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity" issued by the State Council Information Office. The Fiji fungus project has been selected into the "Eliminating Absolute Poverty - China's Practice" issued by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and the "Belt and Road" story series issued by the Ministry of Commerce of China. Lesotho Mycorrhiza project was awarded the world's best poverty reduction case.

"The story of fungus" is the story of getting rid of poverty, and also the story of China's contribution to the world. Taking Papua New Guinea as an example, fungus technology has been extended to more than 13000 farmers in 17 regions of 9 provinces, benefiting more than 40000 people.

In order to thank fungus experts, especially Lin Zhanxi, the inventor of fungus technology, PNG people affectionately call giant fungus "Lin Cao". The ancient village of Finitu has been involved in long-term tribal disputes due to lack of resources. After engaging in fungus production, the villagers no longer fight with weapons and focus on economic development. In order to express their gratitude, the villagers engraved the names of the experts of the fungus grass upland rice project and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University on the Peace Monument, and East Highland Province also shot and released the documentary "fungus grass technology".

The effectiveness of fungus technology in helping countries along the "Belt and Road" to promote poverty reduction and green sustainable development has been widely praised by the international community. Thousands of reports have been made by official media and websites of Fiji, Laos, Kenya, Nigeria, Lesotho, Central Africa, Jamaica, Mexico and the United Nations.

It has been more than 20 years since China's foreign aid of fungus. After the "Belt and Road" initiative was put forward, the breadth and depth of international cooperation on mycorrhiza has expanded significantly, and the level of cooperation and development has been significantly improved, especially from bilateral assistance to multilateral cooperation. Zheng Baodong pointed out that at present, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University has become a partner of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the World Food Programme's Center of Excellence for Rural Development. It has close contact with government departments and universities in more than 40 countries to carry out scientific research, training and education, promotion and other aspects of cooperation related to fungi.

Fungus technology has become the "golden signboard" of China's foreign aid to help the poor, protect the ecological environment and promote sustainable development. The National Fungus Center of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University received more than 200 foreign delegations, and the overseas fungus base received more than 50000 people to visit and study. Zheng Baodong said that looking forward to the future, he will continue to expand the "circle of friends" of international cooperation on fungus, continue to deepen the application of fungus in the vast number of developing countries, strengthen cooperation with international organizations and other multilateral institutions, help more countries jointly build the "Belt and Road" to promote rural poverty reduction, promote farmers' income, and jointly build national modernization.
