Hayley Tsukayama will speak about grassroots activism at LibrePlanet 2024

BOSTON, Massachusetts, USA -- January 23, 2024 -- TheFree SoftwareFoundation(FSF) today announced associate director of legislativeactivism Hayley Tsukayama, as keynote speaker forLibrePlanet 2024, the sixteenth edition of the FSF's conferenceon ethical technology and user freedom. LibrePlanet will be held on May4 and 5 at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, as well as online.

"A free and just technological society needs a robust, engaged freesoftware community to help us address our problems together," saysHayley Tsukayama who will keynote LibrePlanet 2024, thesixteenth edition of the FSF's conference on ethical technology anduser freedom. Tsukayama is associate director of legislative activismat the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). In her upcoming keynote, which istitledBuilding bridges and plugging in, Tsukayama wants to createspaces for different advocates to learn from each other. She willshare the many lessons that "the tech advocacy world can learn fromother advocates," and talk about what aspects of the free software movement could becultivated successfully with other movements.

"We're excited for Hayley to join us at LibrePlanet this year," saysMiriam Bastian, program manager at the FSF. "Hayley works on the EFF'sactivism team and is an expert on grassroots movements to influencestate legislation. I'm sure she has a lot to say on how to cultivatecommunity, which is the conference theme!"

This is the second keynote the FSF announced for LibrePlanet 2024:Cultivating Community. The other keynote speaker will beDavidWilson, which was announced in October.
