Apple Insider, an Apple news website, discovered a patent application submitted by Apple on Thursday morning. The analog 3D image technology mentioned in this patent can theoretically turn the display screen of iPhone and other devices into an automatic stereoscopic display screen, and users can see 3D images without wearing special glasses.

This patent describes a pixel array with a secondary sub-pixel array and a lens structure, which can emit light from many different angles. The most critical component is the "ray guide", which can guide the correct ray to the observer.
The relevant equipment can use the camera and/or accelerometer to determine which direction the light should be directed. Although the potential application direction of this patent may be mobile devices, Apple will certainly try to apply this technology to MacBook.
So far, naked eye 3D is far from a success in consumer electronics. Amazon once tried to use the Fire mobile phone. It didn't realize the real stereoscopic effect, but it used a "dynamic perspective" sensor system.
This patent application was submitted in January 2015, and the inventor was Jean Jacques Drolet, senior manager of Apple Display Technology.
