Power failure of high-voltage line due to lightning strike
At 17:00 on the 20th, Lai Hongwei, Deputy General Manager of Yunyang County Power Supply Company, told reporters that large-scale lightning strikes followed the torrential rain in the county on the afternoon of the 19th.
It is said that there was a rare lightning strike in Yunyang County, which caused lightning for a while. At about 18:00 on the 19th, the 35kV high-voltage line from Chengxi substation to Renhe substation of the power supply company was struck by lightning. Between pole 2 and pole 3, a 35kV high-voltage line was broken, so that the high-voltage line was out of phase. The power supply of Renhe and Bailong substations of Yunyang Power Supply Company was interrupted.
Power failure caused a major water outage in Yunyang
According to Lai, the deputy general manager, after the 35 kV high-voltage line was damaged by lightning strike, a township under the jurisdiction and the special power supply line of Yunyang County Water Supply Company were cut off, while the power consumption of residents in Yunyang County was not affected.
A resident surnamed Zhang in Yunyang County told the reporter that due to unknown reasons, the residents had no water supply since the early morning of the 20th. People without water storage equipment had to go to restaurants with convenient water sources nearby for meals.
A resident surnamed Huang, who is located in Binjiang Road, Yunyang, told the reporter that most of the residents rushed to the restaurant due to the lack of water, which led to the temporary overcrowding of the restaurant. Some restaurants even shut down due to lack of water.
A staff member of the Yunyang County Water Supply Company, who did not want to be named, said that since 0:30 on the 20th, about 100000 residents in Yunyang County had been without water because of the power failure of the pumping station supplying the whole city.
