Main tourist attractions in Shanxi Province

The northern Mt. Hengshan

Mount Hengshan, known as the North Mountain, is 2017 meters above sea level. It is also known as the Five Mountains along with Mount Tai in the east, Mount Hua in the west, Mount Heng in the south and Mount Song in the middle, and is famous at home and abroad. In 1982, Mount Hengshan was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national scenic spots in the name of Mount Hengshan Scenic Area in Shanxi. It was once named Changshan, Hengzong, Yuanyue and Ziyue. It is located 10 kilometers south of Hunyuan County and 62 kilometers away from Datong City.

Wutai Mountain

Mount Wutai, located in Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. It was approved as a "national forest park" by the Ministry of Forestry in 1992. In August 2007, the National Tourism Administration approved it as one of the first national AAAAA tourist attractions. On June 26, 2009, it was officially listed in the World Heritage List at the 33rd World Heritage Conference held in Seville, Spain.

Chang Family Manor

Changjia Manor is located in Chewang Village, Dongyang Town, southwest of Yuci. The car rim is composed of four small natural villages. A big temple is built in the center of the four villages, half a mile away from the four villages, forming a spoke shape of the car, so it is called "car rim".

Hukou Waterfall

Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River is located between Jixian County, Shanxi Province and Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, in the Yellow River 25 kilometers southwest of Jixian County, Shanxi Province. Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area, with an area of about 100 square kilometers, is a famous scenic spot in Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province. It was designated as a national key scenic spot in 1988 and is now a national AAAA scenic spot.

Pingyao Ancient City

Pingyao Ancient City is a famous cultural city with a history of more than 2700 years. Together with Langzhong, Sichuan, Lijiang, Yunnan, and Shexian, Anhui, which are also the second batch of national famous historical and cultural cities, Pingyao Ancient City is called "the four best preserved ancient cities". Yingxian Wood Tower

The wooden tower is located between the gate and the main hall on the north-south axis of the temple, which belongs to the layout of "front tower and back hall". The tower is built on a four meter high platform, with a height of 67.31 meters and a bottom floor diameter of 30.27 meters, which is in a plane octagon. The facade of the first floor has double eaves, and the above floors are all single eaves, with five floors and six eaves in total. The hidden layer is sandwiched between each floor, which is actually nine floors.

Qiao's compound

Qiaojia Courtyard is located in Qiaojiabao Village, Qi County, Shanxi Province, 54 kilometers north of Taiyuan, and only 2 kilometers south of Dongguan Town. It is also known as the nave. It is the home of the famous commercial and financial capitalist Qiao Zhiyong in the Qing Dynasty. It was first built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and then it was repaired twice and expanded once. Through the continuous efforts of several generations, a grand architectural group was built in the early years of the Republic of China, which epitomized the unique style of the northern folk houses in the Qing Dynasty.

Yuci Old Town

The old city of Yuci was built on the old site of Seoul in the second year of Emperor Kaihuang of the Sui Dynasty (AD 582). It has a history of more than 1400 years. The old city of Yuci has a long history, profound culture and unique tourism resources. It integrates ancient folk houses, ancient city walls, ancient county government offices, ancient temples, ancient streets, ancient shops and other human landscapes, as well as natural scenery such as mountains, water, forests, springs, waterfalls, etc., and integrates Shanxi business culture, national culture, Yellow River culture, San Jin culture, and urban culture.

Yangquan Tibetan Mountain

Tibetan Mountain Tourist Scenic Spot is a "National AAAA Tourist Attraction", "National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot", "Top Ten Civilized Scenic Spots in Shanxi Province", one of the first batch of "Intangible China · Tibetan Mountain Cultural Heritage Protection Units in Shanxi Province", and "Top Historical and Cultural Mountain in Shanxi Province". Tibetan Mountain is the east gate of Shanxi's tourism. It is a place with beautiful scenery and interesting scenery, with towering peaks, singing birds and fragrant flowers, waterfalls and flowing springs.

Yuncheng Dead Sea

Yuncheng Salt Lake was formed in the fourth generation of the Cenozoic. As the mountains went out to the sea, a large number of salt containing minerals gathered here. After long-term precipitation and evaporation, a natural salt lake was formed. People can canoe in the lake water, and the black mud in the lake can beautify the skin, so Yuncheng Salt Lake is known as China's Dead Sea.

Yongji Stork Tower

The Stork Tower is located on the east bank of the Yellow River to the west of Puzhou Ancient City, Yongji City, and on the south of Puzhou Ancient City. It was originally a military building built by military strategists in the Northern Zhou Dynasty. Because of its magnificent momentum, tall eyes, and the feeling of flying when climbing the upper floor, it is named "Cloud Habitat Building". The ancient city is close to the Yellow River. There is a kind of fish eating bird that often lives in groups on tall buildings. This water bird looks like a crane, but it has a top in Bhutan, a tip of mouth and legs, and gray white fur. People call it "the stork", so the "cloud dwelling building" is also called "the stork building".

The Wangs Courtyard

Wangjia Courtyard is located in Jingsheng Town, 12 kilometers east of Lingshi County, Shanxi Province. It is 35 kilometers away from the ancient city of Pingyao, a world cultural heritage, 4 kilometers away from Jiexiu Mianshan, and 2 kilometers away from the Zishou Temple, the hometown of the 18 Arhats who returned overseas. It is a boutique tourist route launched by Shanxi Province in recent years with the advantages of "famous cities, famous mountains, famous hospitals, and famous temples". Tongpu Railway and National Highway 108 run through the county. The newly opened Dayun Expressway Lingshi Exit is 2 kilometers away from the Wangjia Courtyard. The transportation is very convenient.

Mianshan Tourist Area

Mianshan, also known as Mianshang, was burned with his mother in seclusion by Jie Zitui (Jie Zhitui), a famous minister of Jin Wengong, the overlord of the Jin State in the Spring and Autumn Period. It is located in the shadow of the Fen River, 20 kilometers away from Jiexiu urban area, across three counties of Jiexiu, Lingshi and Qinyuan, with the highest altitude of 2566.6 meters and a relative height of more than 1000 meters. Luya Mountain, the main peak of Guancen Mountain, is located in Ningwu, Wuzhai and Kelan County, Shanxi Province, 26 kilometers southeast of the county seat of Wuzhai. It belongs to the Luliang Mountains, "bordering Kelan in the west, Ningwu in the east, and Jingle in the south.".

Linfen Yao Temple

Yao Temple was built in the Western Jin Dynasty with a history of more than 1700 years. The former site was in the west of the Fen River. It was moved to the east bank of the Fen River during the Yuankang period of the Western Jin Dynasty. In the third year of Emperor Gaozong's reign in the Tang Dynasty (658), the temple site was moved from the southwest of the capital to the current site in the south of the city. Yao Temple is a national ancestral temple that gathers rich history and culture and 5000 years of civilization. It is commonly known as the Three Sages Temple. It is a temple dedicated to the memory of the three ancestors of Yao, Shun and Yu in China.

Jincheng Imperial City Prime Minister's Residence

Huangcheng Prime Minister's Mansion Scenic Spot is located in Huangcheng Village, Beiliu Town, Yangcheng County, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province. It is a group of distinctive ancient buildings, with mountains and rivers on its back. The city walls are majestic, battlements stand in a forest, and official houses and folk houses are lined up in rows. The Imperial City Prime Minister's Mansion was the residence of the famous Prime Minister Chen Tingjing in the Qing Dynasty.

Jiaocheng Xuanzhong Temple

Xuanzhong Temple, also known as Shibi Temple. In the Shibi Mountain, 10 kilometers northwest of Jiaocheng County, Shanxi, covering an area of 6000 square meters, it is surrounded by steep stone walls and surrounded by green cypresses. It is a Buddhist holy land with elegant scenery. It was built in the second year of Yanxing in the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 427). Japanese Buddhists regard Xuanzhong Temple as their ancestral temple. The main hall, the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the East and West Side Side Hall, and the Hall of Good Law were destroyed by fire during the Tongzhi and Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty, and the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas remains.

Guandi Temple in Changping

Changping Guandi Temple is also called Guandi Ancestral Temple. Changping Village, 25 kilometers south of Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. Guan Yu, the general of Shu in the Three Kingdoms, was born in Changpingli, Jiezhou, Shanxi Province. The villagers admired his virtue and built a temple to worship him in his former residence. It was founded in the Sui Dynasty and became a temple in the Jin Dynasty. After Guan Yu was granted the post imperial seal in successive dynasties, the temple was rebuilt or expanded. Most of the existing buildings are relics of the Qing Dynasty. It has a grand scale, rigorous layout, towering ancient cypresses, magnificent palaces, and a total area of nearly 60000 square meters.

Changzhi Huangya Cave

Huangya Cave is located in Licheng County, Shanxi Province, at the northern end of the Taihang Mountains, with an altitude of more than 1500-2000 meters. The huge energy generated by the relative movement of the earth's crust cuts the mountain consisting of hard red quartz sandstone and shale layers here into Daodao Canyon. The cliffs stretch for tens of kilometers, rising from the ground to the sky.

Shenlong Valley Scenic Spot in North Wudang

Shenlonggou Tourist Area is located 10 kilometers east of Jicui Township, Fangshan County, 27 kilometers away from the county seat, 84 kilometers away from Luliang City, and 136 kilometers away from Taiyuan City, the provincial capital. The total area of the tourist area is 70 square kilometers. As you can see, the mountain ranges here are crisscross and overlapping, and the forest is dense, like the sea. The total area of forest vegetation on the mountain is more than 57000 mu, that is, 38.2 square kilometers, accounting for 55% of the total area of the tourist area. It is Luliang Mountain and the largest and best preserved forest park in our province.

Yungang Grottoes is one of the largest grottoes in China, and together with Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang and Maijishan Grottoes, they are called China's four major grotto art treasures. Located at the southern foot of Wuzhou Mountain, 16 kilometers west of Datong, Shanxi Province, it is chiseled along the mountain, stretching about one kilometer from east to west, magnificent and rich in content. There are currently 45 major caves, 252 large and small cave niches, and more than 51000 statues, representing China's outstanding Buddhist grotto art from the 5th to the 6th century AD.

Hongdong Big Pagoda Tree

Hongdong Big Pagoda Tree is located in the Big Pagoda Tree Park on the west side of Jia Village, two kilometers northwest of Hongdong County. Although there are no grand buildings in Hongdong, there are endless tourists in both cold winter and hot summer. Some write poems and inscriptions to express the feeling of "thinking about the source when drinking water", and some look up at the ancient locust tree, linger on the nostalgia, and refuse to leave for a long time.

Jinci Temple is located at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain, 25 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan City, where Jinshui originates. During the reign of Tiansheng in the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhuifeng Tang Shuyu became the King of Fen, and built a large-scale Notre Dame Hall for Damu Yijiang. There are 43 colored sculptures of the Song Dynasty in the hall, and the fish marsh flying beam in front of the hall is the only one in China. The two sides of the hall are hard for the old, good for the good, and the two springs. The main source of Jinshui flows from here. The water temperature is 17 ℃, and the water is crystal clear all the year round.

Yaomiao · Huamen

Yaomiao Huamen is 50 meters high, 80 meters long and 40 meters wide, with a construction area of more than 22000 square meters and a total investment of 50 million yuan. It is composed of base, main door and gate tower. The Huamen Gate of Yao Temple, also known as the gate of Chinese civilization, symbolizes the opening of the gate of Chinese civilization by Emperor Yao. It integrates historical commemoration and sightseeing, adding a high-grade cultural landscape to the local area.

Wuxiang County Eighth Route Army Taihang Memorial Hall

The Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army has collected and displayed a large number of valuable historical materials and revolutionary relics, recorded the glorious achievements of the Eighth Route Army and the Taihang people, displayed the original appearance of Taihang's resistance against Japan, and reproduced the glorious images of the older generation of revolutionaries such as Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Zuoquan, Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping, etc. The memorial building is in I-shaped layout, with flat topped modern buildings on both sides, and the nave spire is an ancient building.
