In the autumn of 1948, in order to meet the needs of economic and cultural construction after the liberation of the whole country, the Communist Party of China set out to build a new formal university - Dalian University.Dalian University College of Technology, an important part of Dalian University, is the predecessor of Dalian University of Technology.In April 1949, Dalian University College of Engineering was founded.In the following year, Dalian University was abolished, and the university became independentDalian Institute of Technology。In 1951, Dalian Institute of Technology re surveyed the campus in the suburb of Dalian and decided to build the new campus in Lingshuitun, which is surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on one side, in the western suburb of Dalian.In October 1960, the school was identified asministry of educationDirectly under the National Key University.In June 1980, it became one of the first key universities to set up ethnic minority classes and implement targeted enrollment by the Ministry of Education.[7][51]
