Teaching construction

By April 2022, 8 disciplines of Xiamen University have been selected into the 2.0 Base of the Ministry of Education's Top Basic Discipline Training Plan, and 11 majors (13 projects) have been selected into the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Talent Education and Training Plan; 44 specialties were selected as national first-class specialty construction sites; 44 courses were selected into the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses. As of December 2020, xiamen university library The total collection reached 13.36 million volumes. 《 Journal of Xiamen University (Natural Science Edition), founded in 1931, is a comprehensive academic journal (bimonthly), which is sponsored by Xiamen University and is in charge of the Ministry of Education. It is a core journal of natural science in China. It mainly publishes the latest research achievements in various disciplines of natural science, including basic theoretical research of natural science, basic applied research, and academic papers on high-tech. Since 1994, the citation frequency and impact factors have ranked among the top comprehensive universities in China. Journal of Xiamen University

Journal of Xiamen University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition) is a high-level comprehensive academic journal of philosophy and social sciences sponsored by Xiamen University and supervised by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. At the end of 2003, it was among the first to be selected into the "Famous Journal Project of Philosophy and Social Sciences" by the Ministry of Education. Jiageng buildings

The Jiageng buildings in Siming Campus were built in June 1998. They rise linearly from north to south in the center of the campus. They are composed of five buildings from No. 1 to No. 5 of Jiageng. The east front is slightly curved, facing the central square, and in front is the open Furong Lake. The main building, Song'en Tower (the third of the Han Dynasty), is a square tower, with a conical roof on four slopes, covered with red tiles, rolling temples out of eaves, hanging balustrades and high ridges. The four subordinate buildings are red tiles, sloping roofs, hard mountains, and connected with the main building by corridors. The corridor on the second floor and the square are supplemented by long and unified steps, forming a unified whole^[146] 。

Memorial Hall of Lu Hsun

Lu Xun Memorial Hall of Xiamen University is the only Lu Xun Memorial Hall located in colleges and universities in China at present. There are five exhibition rooms in the Memorial Hall. The first room briefly reviews Lu Xun's life path and thought process; The second room displays the historical relics of Lu Xun's time in Xiamen; The third room is a special exhibition of "Lu Xun and Xu Guangping"; The fourth room is for people from all walks of life to visit the memorial room; The fifth room is Lu Xun's former residence. In 1921, when Mr. Tan Kah kee founded Xiamen University, he set "self-improvement and perfection" as the school motto.

"Constant self-improvement" refers to consciously being positive, working hard and never slacking off. It was first seen in the Book of Changes - Qian: "The heaven moves healthily, and the gentleman constantly strives for self-improvement".

"Stop at perfection" means to make unremitting efforts to achieve perfection before stopping, that is, never stop your efforts until you reach a perfect state. The Book of Rites · University said: "The way of university is to be virtuous, to be friendly to the people, and to be good"^[72] 。

The Ministry of Education of the National Government issued a national order for commendation, which made Xiamen University widely known as "the strongest in the South". However, the "strength of the South" does not only refer to the strength of Xiamen University. The word "strong in the south" comes from The Doctrine of the Mean. The original text is: "Zi Lu asked for strength.
