In December 1969, the Education and Health Office of Jiangsu Revolutionary Committee decided to merge some departments of Jiangsu Education College and Jiangsu Correspondence University into Nanjing Normal University.In November 1969, the two departments of music and art of Nanjing Normal University were merged into Jiangsu Revolutionary Literature and Art School (the former Nanjing Art Institute). In 1972, the two departments were again affiliated with Nanjing Normal University. In 1976, some teachers and staff of Nanjing Institute of Physical Education were transferred to the sports training group of Nanjing Normal University, and soon merged with the public sports room to establish the sports department.
