In September 2010, Qihoo successively released 360 Privacy Protector and 360 Buckle Bodyguard for Tencent QQ, and said that it can protect QQ users' privacy and network security. On November 3, Tencent announced that it would not be able to run QQ software on computers equipped with 360 software.
The incident also involved disputes between other Qihoo software and similar software, such as disputes between 360 Security Browser and Aoyou Browser and Sogou Browser, and disputes between 360 Security Guard and 360 Antivirus and several anti-virus software. To this end, Jinshan, Aoyou, Keniu, Baidu and other software companies jointly held a press conference on November 5 to boycott Qihoo 360 and announce that it will not be compatible with 360 series software.
Later, the government intervened in the fight, ordered Tencent to stop incompatible behavior, and Qihoo recalled 360 buckled bodyguards.
On November 21, Tencent and Qihoo respectively issued letters of apology to netizens on their official websites, officially ending the dispute.
On April 26, 2011, Beijing Chaoyang District Court made a first instance judgment on Tencent's lawsuit against Qihoo 360 for unfair competition, and Qihoo and three other companies compensated Tencent with 400000 yuan.
