Simulated Flight 2020 claims that "when the map data in the game exceeds 2000 TB (2PB), players can fly over their own roofs in the game". While the membership of XGP is not expired, I also came to experience the feeling of flying over the roof of my home.
As I said at the beginning, this thing is the same as the steps of the elephant to install the refrigerator (# funny).
1. Fly the plane
As a flight simulation game with extremely low lower limit and extremely high upper limit, the threshold of this generation is extremely low: just set the route, AI generation flight, and players can see the scenery in the cabin; At the same time, the upper limit of this generation is still very high. It is common to play a whole set of physical instrument panel peripherals and joystick peripherals.
I use the XBOX handle to play. After practicing the beginner's course and takeoff course, taking off from the airport is not difficult.
2. Find your hometown
In order to find the way, I took off from a custom airport near Baoding. The airport code should be made up.
The VFR map on the map shows mountains, rivers and main roads, but none of them is marked. In order to find the location of my hometown, I combined Baidu Maps satellite map to determine the location.
Taking the lake on the upper left of VFR map as an example, the location and area of satellite map are determined by comparing the two maps.
Next, just take this lake as the reference point, fly according to the satellite map, and use the VFR map to correct the direction.
Here's another word about Microsoft (although it has nothing to do with Microsoft). Rivers and mountains automatically modeled according to satellite images are very real.
3. Fly the plane
The flight process is boring. In addition to looking at the house on the ground, it is to correct the heading and posture. The wooden propeller plane I chose preferred several degrees when it was blown by the wind.
There are two key reference points in the whole flight route, namely, the river approach tunnel and the expressway hub in the following figure.

4. Arrival
After more than 30 minutes of flight, the propeller plane finally reached the end of the route, that is, the hometown county.
I drove the plane to do a somersault over the model of my alma mater, and the plane almost hit the ground directly.
This is a screenshot of flying over the nearby hills and artificial rivers. The artificial river is part of the South to North Water Transfer Project. The river flows through the mountain tunnel to Beijing.
When building the artificial river, my friends and I went to play in the tunnel. The tunnel is very long. When you walk a few tens of meters, adults will kick you out.

The model generated from the satellite map in the simulated flight 2020 is quite interesting. Although the building modeling in most parts of the mainland is not accurate, the terrain and landform can still be restored.
Due to the lack of surveying and mapping data and cost considerations, only the landmark cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have high-precision modeling with manual intervention, while the third and fourth tier cities and the counties below still rely on satellite image AI modeling.
