The jewelry has quality problems such as fracture, deformation, discoloration, and inlay falling off;

The pricing mode of "Buy It Now" gold is not transparent, the operator does not tell the weight of gold jewelry when selling, and the "Buy It Now" goods and the goods based on weight cannot be exchanged;

The gold "trade in the old for the new" does not indicate to consumers the name, weight, purity, unit price and other information of the exchanged "craft gold".

In response to consumer complaints, the regulatory authorities organized on-site inspections. During the inspection, in addition to the above centralized complaints, the staff also found that some well-known gold and jewelry brands had false publicity, non-standard use of measuring instruments, and failure to clearly mark prices in the business process.

In terms of advertising, for example, the price of gold is 480 yuan/gram, but in fact, there will be very small words indicating that the price of 480 yuan/gram is available for every 5 grams, not 480 yuan/gram in the real sense, but also processing fees or other expenses;

In terms of measurement, the measuring instruments used by some operators have not been legally verified, and there are deviations.

In view of the common problems in the industry, the heads of relevant departments of Changzhou Municipal Market Supervision Bureau interviewed several gold and jewelry enterprises and warned them: let the operators make rectification commitments for their own problems, and let all the enterprises participating in the meeting sign a letter of commitment to honest operation.

Concealing weight, adulteration and high after-sales service fees

In addition to Jiangsu, gold jewelry complaints in Guangdong and other places have also increased significantly recently. A reporter searched a complaint platform and found that there were more than 34000 complaints with the keyword "gold".

Ke Wenwen, the director of the News Department of Guangdong Provincial Committee of Consumer Affairs, said that the consumer complaints received recently mainly focused on the concealment of weight, adulteration, and high after-sales service fees.

Conceal the weight of jewelry, and some businesses did not truthfully tell the difference between full gold and "Buy It Now" gold, so as to induce the purchase of high priced products;

The product is falsely publicized, adulterated, the actual purity is inconsistent with the propaganda and marking, the authentication certificate is forged, and there are situations such as selling fake products with false information;

After sales service charges are high. When the jewelry has quality problems such as fracture and deformation, and process defects, unreasonable labor costs are required to pay for maintenance;

Additional replacement conditions are added. Various fees will be charged when the product is replaced with "old for new". Details such as replaceable products, depreciation fees, wear and tear fees, and new jewelry processing fees are not notified in advance.

Ke Zhiwen told reporters that Mr. Cai, a Guangzhou consumer, had bought a bracelet worth 10540 yuan in a gold store. Later, a friend reminded that if the price of bracelet was calculated by unit price, it would be much higher than the international gold price. The consumer felt cheated and returned to the gold store to ask for re pricing according to the actual weight of the bracelet. After being rejected by the business, he complained to the Guangzhou Consumer Council.

During the mediation process, the merchants pointed out that the bracelets purchased by consumers were "priced" gold jewelry in the store, commonly known as "decorative gold". Although the number of grams was small, the process cost was high. According to the industry rules, the bracelets were generally not sold in grams, but sold in the form of "Buy It Now". The merchants had made an explicit reminder at the sales counter and performed the obligation of clearly marking prices. After repeated mediation, the consumer agreed with the merchant's explanation and no longer insisted on the refund request.

Try to choose well-known brands, carefully compare and select them, and ensure that businesses have formal business licenses and relevant qualifications;

Check the purity, quality and process of the product carefully, and inquire about the pricing method, replacement conditions and processing costs of gold jewelry;

Keep the purchase vouchers, such as invoices and identification certificates, so that they can be used in case of disputes.
