What percentage of new IELTS speaking questions in question changing season

The question changing season is a problem that every student who is preparing for oral IELTS has to face, especially those who take the IELTS exam at the beginning of each question season( When is the time to change the IELTS oral question )。 Because there is no ready-made oral question bank for reference, we can only prepare according to the questions of the last question season. Fortunately, not all of the new IELTS speaking questions are changed, so what proportion of the new questions will account for?

From the examination records of the past ten years, the total number of questions in IELTS Oral Part 1 is generally between 31-34, of which 11-13 questions will be replaced at the beginning of the question changing season. Although the number of specific topics varies slightly every year, they are basically within the above range. In other words, during the question changing season, the new questions in Part 1 usually account for one third of the total.

As for Part 2 and Part 3, because Part 3 is an extension of Part 2's theme, when Part 2's theme is changed, Part 3 will also be carried out at the same time, so we will discuss them together.

Generally speaking, the number of questions in the IELTS Oral Part 2 and Part 3 in each question season is between 50-54 (if the number of questions in the question bank exceeds 60, it means that we have only made a general summary in the early part of the question season, but did not simplify it later). Half of them will be replaced with new questions. That is to say, the new IELTS speaking questions account for half of the question bank in each question season.

To sum up, the probability of encountering new questions in the new question season is basically one third of Part 1, and half of Part 2 and Part 3.
