Six self operated ships exported to Bangladesh by China General Technology Group were successfully delivered

Time: 2019-05-29 10:30:32 Source: Author:

On May 22, 2019, the last ship of the six new shipbuilding projects (39000 tons each) in Bangladesh undertaken by China General Technology Corporation (CNMC) for self export was officially delivered to the owner. So far, six new ships that took two and a half years to build have been successfully delivered. The successful delivery and operation of this project has solved the employment of more than 400 local certified seafarers and provided follow-up employment opportunities for more than 1000 people, directly alleviated the employment problem of Bangladesh's domestic shipping industry, met the demand of Bangladesh's supply side, increased the export of China's major mechanical and electrical products, and exported Chinese technical standards to Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is an important partner of China in carrying out the "Belt and Road" international cooperation, and ocean going ships are the only carrier carrying the Maritime Silk Road. Bangladesh, known as the "country of thousands of ponds", has a coastline of 550 kilometers. With a territory of more than 140000 square kilometers and a population of more than 160 million, Bangladesh is short of materials. It is very dependent on imports in various fields of production and living materials in the national economy. Most of the imports in these fields depend on sea transportation, so the demand for sea transportation is very strong.

On April 30, 2014, Bangladesh Shipping Company and China General Technology Corporation (CNMC) officially signed six new shipbuilding project contracts in Bangladesh's Ministry of Shipping (including three 39000 ton green environmental bulk carriers and three 39000 ton oil and chemical product carriers). On July 19, 2018, the first ship of the project was delivered, which was five months ahead of the delivery date specified in the contract. On May 22, 2019, the last ship was successfully delivered. So far, the project of exporting six new ships to Bangladesh has been successfully concluded.
