A few days ago, the Phase I project of Kenya Mombasa Bypass Highway, contracted by China Civil Engineering Corporation, affiliated to China Railway Construction Corporation, successfully passed the completion acceptance, realizing the "seamless connection" of Mombasa sea, land and air transportation hub in Kenya.
The project is located in Mombasa, the second largest city in Kenya, covering bridge engineering, steel structure engineering, power engineering, monitoring system, dynamic and static weighing system, toll station, railway relocation, etc. It is technically difficult, involves a wide range of projects and complex processes. During the construction, the staff successively encountered unfavorable geological conditions such as deep sludge replacement, expansive soil landslide treatment, uneven settlement of large fill, and subgrade water gushing, which made construction difficult. Through the joint efforts of the Chinese civil engineering project team, the project was finally officially opened to traffic and successfully passed the completion acceptance after the defect warranty period.
It is reported that the project connects Kenya's A109 National Highway, Mombasa Nairobi Railway Station, Mombasa Railway Freight Station, Mombasa International Airport and Mombasa Port Container Terminal, which is of great strategic significance to Mombasa Port Area and Kenya's passenger and cargo transportation. The successful completion acceptance of this project will greatly ease the traffic pressure in Mombasa urban area and provide a strong guarantee for the rapid economic development of Kenya's port area.
