2 Ordinary diesel generator set can be divided into ordinary type and ordinary protection type
1) Ordinary type unit: generally integrated structure, with basic starting, stopping, manual operation and instrument display functions.
2) Ordinary protection unit: on the basis of ordinary unit, automatic protection and alarm functions are added, which generally have alarm and shutdown functions for high water temperature, high oil temperature and low oil pressure. Some also have overspeed (overfrequency) and charging system fault alarm functions. Overload and short circuit protection is realized by low-voltage circuit breaker.

1) In civil buildings, especially commercial buildings, diesel generator sets should be located on the ground floor. In some places with special requirements for noise, vibration and smoke, or where there is no suitable place indoors, low-noise box type diesel generator sets can be selected and located at a certain distance from the building to meet the above special requirements.
2) Machine room layout
(1) The diesel generator set in the machine room shall be designed according to Table 6.1.3.2 of the Code for Electrical Design of Civil Buildings (JGJ/T16-92), except for the cooling water tank. When the distance between the radiator tank and the wall is less than 250mm, holes can be opened on the wall to directly exhaust the hot air to the outside. When the heat dissipation water tank is 600~1000mm away from the wall, a wind guide cover is added to exhaust the hot air to the outside, and a flexible joint is added between the wind guide cover and the heat dissipation water tank. The clear height of the house in the generator station is generally twice the height of the generator set, which should be at least 1.5m higher than the generator.
(2) When the motor power is greater than 500kW, it is recommended to install 16~20 # I-steel under the roof above the unit to install lifting equipment.
(3) Some generator sets must be installed with daily fuel tank whose capacity generally meets the requirements of 3-8h full load operation. The daily fuel tank must be higher than the oil pump of the diesel engine and can be installed with a bracket. The oil outlet must be 100mm above the bottom of the oil tank to prevent impurities from blocking the oil pipe. In some places, the fire department rigidly stipulates the capacity of the daily fuel tank (independent of the generator capacity). The daily fuel tank must be installed in a separate fireproof room, and an emergency oil storage tank must be set up. To this end, it is necessary to consult the relevant departments in advance. When necessary, an oil storage tank shall be buried outdoors underground so that the external fuel can settle for a certain time after unloading.
(4) Generally, the emergency (standby) diesel generator station is not equipped with a separate control room.
(5) General manufacturers provide the exhaust air volume of each diesel generator set. Based on the principle that the inlet air volume is greater than the exhaust air volume, the effective area of the air inlet and exhaust shutter can be obtained. Since the generator room is generally on the ground floor, there should be an exhaust shaft large enough to eliminate noise. The air inlet louver is generally located at the rear of the generator, and the air exhaust louver is located at the corresponding position of the air inlet louver. If it is difficult to meet the above requirements due to the location of the basement, but the discharged hot air should not be sucked into the room by the air inlet device, otherwise the air can not be fresh, clean and cool. The area of the air inlet and exhaust shaft can be solved with the assistance of the HVAC professional. The radiant heat emitted by the generator, diesel engine and smoke exhaust pipe shall also be discharged to the outside by mechanical ventilation or natural ventilation.
(6) The exhaust gas from the diesel engine is characterized by high noise, large vibration and high temperature. The welded steel pipe with a wall thickness of not less than 3mm shall be used for the indoor part of the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe shall be connected with the diesel engine by corrugated pipe. The exhaust pipe shall be discharged to the outdoor or flue through the indoor "muffler with heat insulation belt". The exhaust pipe to the flue is beneficial to reducing noise and preventing pollution. Due to the high exhaust gas temperature (generally about 500 ℃), the ordinary clay brick flue cannot be durable, so it should be built with refractory bricks. The indoor section of the metal exhaust pipe must be insulated, and the surface temperature of the insulation layer should not exceed 60 ℃. Please consult with the local environmental protection department for the exhaust gas emission and dust removal of the diesel generator set.
(7) The foundation of the diesel generator set is generally of 200 # concrete structure. The length and width of the foundation are the length and width of the unit's common chassis plus 200~300mm respectively. The foundation is 50~200mm higher than the ground,
