Wu Shuoxian
Born in Quanzhou, Fujian in 1947, his father is Wu Qiushan, a professor of classical literature, modern writer and calligrapher in the Chinese Department of Fudan University, and his mother is a teacher. Under the influence of his parents, Wu Shuoxian has been familiar with ancient poetry since he was a child, and still retains the elegance of poetry. [3]
In 1965, Wu Shuoxian graduated from Zhangzhou No. 1 Middle School. In the same year, he was admitted to Tsinghua University with the highest score in science in Fujian and the highest score in China; In 1970, after graduating from the Department of Civil Architecture of Tsinghua University with a major in architecture, Wu Shuoxian was assigned to work on the construction site of Xi'an Railway Bureau and later served as a member of the Construction Technology Section. [3]
In 1981, he received a master's degree from Tsinghua University and studied under academicians Wu Liangyong and Ma Dayou to continue his doctoral studies [4] He won his doctorate in 1984 and was the first doctor trained by Chinese architecture and acoustics circles.
Wu Shuoxian taught at Zhejiang University from 1984 to 1998, during which he served as a postdoctoral research assistant at the University of Sydney from 1987 to 1988, and a senior visiting scholar at Innsbruck University from 1991 to 1992. [5]
In 1998, Wu Shuoxian taught at South China University of Technology.
In 1990, Wu Shuoxian was promoted to a professor, and in 1994, he was rated as a doctoral supervisor. [5]
In 1995, Wu Shuoxian published his poetry anthology "Ode Collection". Mao Dun, a famous litterateur, wrote the title of his book, Ye Shengtao In his preface, he wrote: "When I was ten years old, I began to write poems. It was two or three years earlier than me, and it has been more than 20 years since then. In my spare time, I still recited poems and admired them deeply. [6]
In 2005, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was the first academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of building technology science in China. [7]
In 2007, the Ministry of Science and Technology approved the construction of the only "National Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science" in the field of Chinese architecture in South China University of Technology, with Wu Shuoxian as the first director of the national key laboratory. The laboratory carried out a series of studies around green buildings and ecological livable cities, and made important contributions. Wu Shuoxian, as a "pioneer in the marginal field of architectural environmental acoustics", was selected as "100 contributors to the influence of new China on Guangdong". [4]
On September 5, 2013, Wu Shuoxian was employed as a dual academician of Huaqiao University. [7]
In 2015, the "May Day" International Labor Day and the Conference of Commending National Model Workers and Advanced Workers was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Wu Shuoxian was awarded the honorary title of "National Advanced Worker". [2] [8]

Scientific research achievements

  • Overview of scientific research
Wu Shuoxian has long been engaged in the research of architectural and environmental acoustics. The theory and method of urban traffic noise prediction, simulation and noise prevention planning are systematically proposed to clarify the principle of acoustic virtual boundary, and the simple formula of vehicle flow noise in the reverberation field is derived, which can better solve the problems that have not been solved for more than 20 years in the world. Completed the first example of linking architectural aided design software with acoustic software to analyze indoor sound quality. Propose new indexes and calculation formulas for hall loudness evaluation, conduct hall sound quality evaluation with fuzzy set theory, guide and work with collaborators to propose new calculation models for diffuse sound field simulation and improved measurement methods and calculation formulas for interface sound energy diffusion coefficient, and carry out research on building environment evaluation method system, human behavior mode and post use evaluation, The theoretical system of subjective assessment of built environment was initially established. [1]
Wu Shuoxian is an active advocate of China's building technology science and green building, and the only academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of building technology science. He served as the director of the only national key laboratory of building science in China, played an important role in the establishment, operation and evaluation of the laboratory, and played a leading role in the industry. As a member of the Science Think Tank Construction Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he presided over consulting projects of the Chinese Academy of Sciences such as "Attaching Importance to the Development of Modern Building Technology Science", "Promoting Green Buildings, Promoting Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, and Improving the Habitat Environment", which were highly valued by senior leaders of the central government and played an important role in the introduction of the Green Building Action Plan by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development. These works have played an important role in changing the tendency of Chinese architectural circles to emphasize art, technology, appearance and quality, and promoting the development of Chinese architectural technology and science and green building cause. [9]
Wu Shuoxian also vigorously promotes Chinese traditional culture, attaches importance to science popularization, and publishes poetry, calligraphy and science popularization works. [2] [9]
