Russian Deputy Defense Minister Ivanov Arrested on Bribery

On April 23 local time, the Russian Investigation Commission reported that the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, Timur Ivanov, was arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes.

The news said that Ivanov was arrested on suspicion of violating the relevant provisions of Article 290 of the Criminal Law of the Russian Federation on bribery. No further details were disclosed.

The press secretary of Russian President Peskov said that Russian President Putin had received relevant reports, and Russian Defense Minister Shoigu had also been informed of the arrest in advance.

According to the Tass News Agency, Ivanov may be suspected of accepting bribes of at least 1 million rubles and face up to 15 years in prison.
