On May 27, the website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security released the information on the appointment and removal of State functionaries by the State Council: Hua Chunying (female) was appointed as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Qu Yunhai was relieved from his post as Deputy Director of the National Immigration Administration (the Entry Exit Administration of the People's Republic of China).

The update of the "Key Officials" column on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows that Hua Chunying, who is currently a member of the Party Committee and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is among the members of the Party Committee and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deng Li, and Miao Deyu, a member of the Party Committee and Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to her new appointment, Hua Chunying served as Assistant Foreign Minister in charge of news, protocol and translation.

According to public data, Hua Chunying was born in 1970, graduated from Nanjing University, and worked in the former Department of Western Europe, the Department of Europe, the Department of Information, and the Chinese Embassy in Singapore and the European Mission.

Since 2012, Hua Chunying has served as Deputy Director General of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the same time, she is also the fifth female spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China after Li Jinhua, Fan Huijuan, Zhang Qiyue and Jiang Yu. In July 2019, Hua Chunying succeeded Lu Kang as Director of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hua Chunying will assume the post of Assistant Foreign Minister no later than October 2021.

It is worth mentioning that Hua Chunying is also the third female Vice Foreign Minister after Wang Hairong and Fu Ying.
