On April 24 local time, US President Biden signed a package of foreign aid bills worth US $95 billion, which also involves mandatory byte hopping to divest TikTok's US business. In relevant terms, byte skipping is required to spin off its US business for about nine months, otherwise it will face the US national ban. In addition, if Biden determines that the sale has made progress, he can also exercise a 90 day extension right.

In this regard, TikTok vowed to fight back through legal means. After Biden signed the bill, the company said that this unconstitutional law is an injunction against TikTok, and the company will challenge it in court. "We believe that facts and laws are clearly on our side, and we will win in the end."

TikTok said that the company had invested billions of dollars to protect the security of American data, and reiterated that the ban would destroy 7 million enterprises and silence 170 million Americans. "While continuing to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue to invest and innovate to ensure that TikTok is still a safe space for Americans from all walks of life to share their experiences, find happiness and get inspiration."

Zhou Shouzi, CEO of TikTok, also released a video saying that this was a disappointing moment, and reiterated the company's commitment to launch legal challenges. "Please rest assured that we will not go anywhere. The facts and constitution are on our side, and we look forward to winning again."

Previously, the Ministry of Commerce of China had responded to the TikTok Act that the United States should earnestly respect the principles of market economy and fair competition, stop unjustifiably suppressing foreign enterprises, and provide an open, fair, just and non discriminatory environment for enterprises from all over the world to invest and operate in the United States. Relevant parties should strictly abide by Chinese laws and regulations, and China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said that the relevant laws put the United States on the opposite side of the principle of fair competition and international economic and trade rules. If the so-called national security reasons can be used to arbitrarily suppress the excellent enterprises of other countries, there is no fairness and justice. Seeing others' good things, we should try every means to take them as our own, which is totally robber logic. The handling of the TikTok incident by the United States will make the world more clearly see whether the so-called "rule order" of the United States is beneficial to the world or only serves the United States itself.
