No fluoride exceeding the standard is detected in fluoride toothpaste

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that some domestic media recently reported that "90% of the fluoride toothpaste in the Chinese market is harmful to human health". The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine subsequently organized a special spot check on the fluoride toothpaste. A total of 18 brands and 30 kinds of fluoride toothpaste, including Colgate, Crest, black people, bamboo salt, Naeis, Heimei and other well-known brands in China, have a high market share, Contains 6 fluoride toothpaste for children. Spot check focuses on fluorine content and triclosan content.

The spot check results showed that the qualification rate of 30 fluoride toothpaste samples was 90% in terms of fluoride content index. Among them, the fluoride content of 27 kinds of fluoride toothpaste completely meets the content requirements of 0.04% to 0.15% specified in the mandatory national standard Toothpaste. Only the fluoride content test values of three fluoride containing toothpastes did not meet the lower limit specified in the national standard, which was equivalent to ordinary toothpastes.

On the index of triclosan content, five toothpastes were tested to contain triclosan, with the content ranging from 0.11% to 0.25%. The test results were in line with the provisions of China and the European Union on cosmetics.

Among the 30 kinds of fluoride toothpaste sampled, 6 kinds of Chinese famous brand and national inspection free products were all qualified. On this basis, the relevant personnel of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the quality of the vast majority of fluoride toothpaste in the Chinese market is safe and reliable, and consumers can use it with confidence.

Standards are consistent with international standards

According to the report that "fluoride toothpaste is toxic", the high concentration of fluoride is very harmful to human health. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced that, according to the research of dental medicine at home and abroad, fluoride can promote the remineralization of tooth enamel, and proper application of fluoride in toothpaste can prevent cavities and fix teeth.

A relevant person from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that according to the mandatory national standard Toothpaste, the total fluoride content of fluoride toothpaste should be between 0.04% and 0.15%; The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stipulates that the fluoride content of fluoride toothpaste is 0.11% to 0.15%; The EU stipulates that the fluoride content of fluoride toothpaste should be less than 0.15%; Latin America stipulates that the fluoride content of fluoride toothpaste is 0.11% to 0.15%; In some Asian countries, the fluoride content of toothpaste containing fluoride is 0.10% to 0.15%. Therefore, the upper limit of fluoride content in fluoride toothpaste in China is consistent with that in major regions of the world.

At present, the national standard Toothpaste does not stipulate the content of "triclosan" in toothpaste. However, in China's cosmetics hygiene standards, "triclosan" is classified as a preservative, and the limit for its use as a preservative in cosmetics is no more than 0.3%, which is consistent with the provisions of EU Directive 68/768 on cosmetics.
