Nutritionist Shi Rui talks about eye care
Water: transparent cornea is most afraid of dryness. The tears secreted by the lacrimal gland nourish the cornea, and the lens is also immersed in water, which actually maintains the circulation and metabolism of the eye. Therefore, both young and old people should develop the habit of drinking more water, so that the eyes can be properly maintained and moistened, which can improve the dryness of the eyes.
Protein and vitamin A: Lack of protein and vitamin will cause cataracts, night blindness and keratopathy. To develop the habit of eating lean meat, fish and eggs, vegetarians should supplement milk and soy products. They often eat animal liver, carrots, garlic seedlings, coriander, rape, spinach and other foods rich in vitamin A.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C can reduce the damage of oxygen in light to the lens. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Vitamin B: It is an important substance involved in the metabolism of nerve cells, including the optic nerve, and has the function of protecting the eyelid, conjunctiva and cornea. When lacking or insufficient, it is easy to make eyes dry and astringent, bulbar conjunctiva congestion, eyelid inflammation, photophobia, blurred vision, visual fatigue, and even optic nerve inflammation. Foods rich in B vitamins include peanut, bean, millet animal viscera, meat, eggs, fish, rice bran, peas, etc.
Other trace elements: zinc, selenium, etc. are involved in the synthesis of various substances in the eyes and regulate their physiological functions.
