Foguang Mountain, located in Dashu District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, is the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. The Foguangshan Temple on the mountain is a Mahayana Buddhist temple. It was founded in 1967 by the Kaishan Sect Master Chang Xingyun. At present, there are many other temples/branches around the world. Master Xingyun is a famous Buddhist monk and scholar who advocates "human Buddhism" and inherits the lineage of Linji Buddhism in China. In addition to the main temple buildings, the most distinctive feature of Foguang Mountain is the Great Buddha City, where the leading Buddha is 120 feet high and reflects thousands of golden lights under the sun. It is a landmark of Foguang Mountain, surrounded by 480 small golden Buddha statues, and the scene is solemn. In addition, the Museum of Buddhist Cultural Relics has thousands of Buddhist cultural relics at all times and at home and abroad, which is worth seeing.

The main functions of the buildings in Foguang Mountain are to cooperate with the development of law, education and compassion. At the same time, it also constantly absorbs the essence of modern scientific and technological civilization to give play to modern and diversified social education functions. Because through various products of modern civilization, modern people can easily understand the truth of Buddhism and naturally accept Buddhism; On the other hand, it seeks the beauty of classical palace art, so it has the characteristics of tradition and innovation, and also creates a new style of modern temples. Foguang Mountain is a Taoist resort integrating ancient and modern Buddhist culture, education, Dharma promotion, charity, pilgrimage and sightseeing. It is also a school like, popular, international and welfare oriented place. The starting point of various buildings shows everywhere the ideal and spirit of the founder of the mountain to build a "pure land on earth".
