Stamp tax base people were selected as one of the top ten buzzwords of this year's newspapers

The "Top Ten Catchwords of Chinese Mainstream Newspapers in Spring and Summer 2007" was announced yesterday, and the Black Brick Kiln and Tooth Prevention Group respectively ranked second and fourth in the top ten catchwords of the comprehensive category. The other eight buzzwords are: corporate income tax law, climate change, foreign banks, stamp duty increase, the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, RMB appreciation, torch bearer selection, and basic people.

The catchwords selection also set up a special topic on people's livelihood. The ten catchwords selected into the topic are: people's livelihood issues, affordable housing, one-way mobile phone charges, minimum living security, housing provident fund, street comprehensive law enforcement, drug supervision and management, all-in-one card, tackling bicycle theft, and pork price hike.

At the same time, there are 10 catchwords in 9 categories: international current affairs, domestic current affairs, economy, society, health care, culture, science and technology, education and sports.

The top ten buzzwords of current politics in China are:

Property Law Fang Yonggang, government information disclosure, State Food and Drug Administration, railway speed increase, self tax declaration, low rent housing system, anti malfeasance and infringement, draft emergency response law, flood control and flood fighting. Anti addiction system and collapse of Jiujiang Bridge. The top ten cultural buzzwords are: Shanghai International Film Festival, Happy Boys, City Humanism, Diaolou and Villages, Public Cultural Services, Podcasts, Red Mansions, Star Advertisements, Cybermobs, Hou Yaowen.

The ten catchwords were jointly released by Beijing Language and Culture University, the National Language Resources Monitoring and Research Center, the China Federation of Journalists and Technicians, and the Chinese Information Society of China. (Zhong Xin)
