You look so serious when you occupy a seat in the library and play with your mobile phone

12:03, November 19, 2018    Education column       I have something to say

"Classmate, this seat is mine, please give way", which is probably a sentence that most students who have been to the university library have heard. It is a common phenomenon that you are asked to change your seat after sitting in this "other people's seat" for several hours.

Almost every year, in the first two months of the postgraduate entrance examination, the university study room and the library are full, and no one's seat is often pasted with a note of "someone here".

And these people who occupy seats are not all for learning.

Taking a seat is to find a corner to concentrate on something other than learning

The professional seat occupying party in the university library often gives up being a Buddhist youth who gets up at 9 o'clock, takes out the determination of "queuing up all night to buy tickets for Jay Chou's concert", and fights wits and courage with the postgraduate entrance examination party who has been queuing up in the library in the early morning and grabbing seats as soon as the door opens.

However, they do not take the postgraduate entrance examination, do not study, do not read, do not study, just want to find a corner in the university to concentrate on doing some chores, and a quiet library has become their only choice.

I have a classmate who doesn't like to run to the library on weekdays. Suddenly, she always posted some news about queuing in the library at 7:00 in the morning, so I asked her: "You don't like the library. Why do you like to get up early to grab seats in the library now?"

She replied, "Because I found that the dormitory was too noisy, and the library was more quiet playing with mobile phones."

Apart from those who play mobile phones, I am most afraid of meeting couples who occupy seats in the library for dating.

Several times I met a couple reading together in the library. Each of them had a book on their desk, a magazine and a Chinese geography book that had not yet turned the page. Both of them were immersed in the world of mobile phones and amused themselves.

I can't help wondering, is there a new way to love now? Date in the library and chat on your mobile phone. When it comes to happy places, the two people will look at each other and smile, which will distract me and other students sitting opposite us if we don't pay attention.

Many other girls use the library as a studio. They ask their roommates who get up early to occupy all the positions near the windows, find the right angle for the sun to fall, expose the small suspenders, put on exquisite makeup, do fashionable manicures, and have no fear of 360 ° cameras. When the photo was posted to the circle of friends, the number of people who liked it was five times more than usual. Luckily, the arrogant senior students who had been in secret love for a long time commented, "What floor are you on? Why haven't I seen you?"

Would rather cry in the library than lie and smile in the bedroom

Some people hold quilts and huddle in the corner of the library corridor to read knowledge points silently. Some people have stood on the roof of the library to read in the morning before dawn. They work hard for their dreams.

However, some people always numb themselves under the pretext of studying in the library.

I have a senior who decided to take the postgraduate entrance exam in his junior year. At the early stage, he was very energetic. Every morning, he went back to the library to study on his own. He bought a lot of materials. At least in our opinion, he worked hard.

Once in a while, when I needed to check some information, I went to the library with him. He skillfully led me to the seat he used to sit. On the table were his various books for postgraduate entrance examination. He occupied three of the six people's square tables.

From 6:00 to 9:00 in the evening, he read for half an hour, played games for two hours, and spent the remaining half an hour in trance and punching cards.

At about 10 o'clock, I packed my things and went back to the dormitory, asking him if he wanted to go with me.

He said that he planned to learn 11 o'clock today, but it's not time yet. You should go back first. Then he looked down at his mobile phone.

In less than half an hour, there was a new dynamic in the space:

"Life goes on, struggle goes on", with a picture of the library in the darkness attached.

I once asked him, since he also plays mobile phones in the library, wouldn't it be more comfortable to go back to the dormitory and lie in bed?

He told me that playing mobile phones in the library is not guilty, and it can comfort myself, at least I have tried.

Getting up early and occupying seats is not an excuse to paralyze yourself

There are many seat occupying parties like seniors. They arranged a pile of homework for themselves on a whim, arranged a reasonable learning plan, thought of carrying a backpack full of books early, prepared enough water to drink for half a day, and finally grabbed a seat after queuing at the library door.

Less than half an hour after sitting down and opening the book, their mobile phones shook. Without hesitation, they opened their mobile phones and began to reply to messages. After that, they could not stop. Then they began to look at the circle of friends, brush the space dynamics and microblog.

When the news was finished, we found the books in the bag that had not been taken out. Looking down at the time, we found that it was too late. The next class was about to start. We packed up the books that had hardly been turned and left.

When roommates asked where they had gone just now, they were even embarrassed to say they had gone to the library.

But the next day, these professional seat occupying parties will still appear at the door of the library on time, waiting to rush in, sit in their accustomed seats, and then start a new round of unswerving efforts.

They seem to have studied in the library all day, but in fact, they are just doing something unrelated to learning under the banner of learning, day after day, seeking a kind of psychological comfort.

There is a word called "poor and busy", which vividly explains what a person is like who tries to paralyze himself with "I work hard", and then moves towards a dead circle with peace of mind.

Occasionally, on a whim, you want to study hard, and then read hard for a few days. Your efforts have not yielded much, but you have moved yourself.

Effort without efficiency is futility.

Leave your seat for those who work hard, and don't use it to move yourself.

You have the right to take a seat, but you should learn to be considerate and share.
