LuXun Academy of Fine Arts ("Lumei" for short), located inLiaoning ProvinceShenyang, YesChinaNortheast ChinaIt is the only higher art institution with multiple disciplines and academic levels, one of the eight major art academies in China, and the key construction university of Liaoning Province's first-class university. The school has been rated by the Ministry of Education as the national cultural quality education base for college students, the demonstration base for red classic art education in colleges and universities, and the research base for Chinese literature and art public opinion information by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.[1]
The predecessor of the school was built in Yan'an in 1938Lu Xun Art College, byMao Zedong、Zhou EnlaiAnd so on.In 1945, Yan'an Luyi moved tonortheast。It developed into Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958.[1]
According to the official website of the university in May 2024, the university has two campuses, Shenyang and Dalian, with a total area of 958000 square meters;It has 17 teaching units and 12 undergraduate majors;There are 7478 full-time undergraduate and graduate students and 919 teaching staff.[2][41]
On April 10, 1938, Lu Xun Art Institute was founded in Yan'an.Mao ZedongComrade personally wrote the name of the college and the motto of "nervous, serious, hardworking and modest", and inscribed "anti Japanese realism and revolutionary romanticism".[1]
In 1958, the school developed into Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts.[1]
In 1983, the school's industrial design laboratory was established.[4]

In 1988, the school established the Department of Industrial Design on the basis of the major of industrial modeling design.[5]
In 1997, the school set up a postgraduate teaching and research institution, the Arts and Culture Research Center.The former Dyeing and Weaving Design Department and the Fashion Design Department were merged to form the Dyeing and Weaving Fashion Art Design Department.[6]
In 1998,Jiang ZeminInscription for the college: "Carry forward the Lu art tradition, cultivate art talents, and prosper the socialist cultural cause".[1]
At the beginning of 2001, the school separated the art major from the basic teaching of public courses and established the Department of Art History and Theory.[8]
In 2004, the Department of Cultural Communication and Management was established.[9]
In 2007, the school's cultural industry management discipline wasPublicity Department of Liaoning Provincial Party CommitteeIt has been identified as a characteristic discipline of "Provincial Key Construction Discipline of Philosophy and Social Sciences".[9]
In 2010, the Industrial Design Experimental Teaching Center of the University was identified by the Ministry of Education as the construction unit of "National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center".[4]
In 2013, the school officially established the Media Animation College on the basis of animation specialty.
In December 2014, the "Liaoning Public Culture Construction Research Base" of the school was approved as the research base of Liaoning regional development strategy by the Education Department of Liaoning Province and the Liaoning Federation of Social Sciences Circles.[10]
In 2017, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts established the Chinese Painting Academy to prepare for the establishment of the calligraphy and painting appreciation and restoration specialty;Set up a school of architectural art and design to prepare for the construction of a professional direction of architectural art and design.[11]In the same year, it was selected as the key construction university of the first-class university in Liaoning Province.[12]
2023On April 21, the "Practice Base of Chinese Painting Academy" of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts was unveiled in Shenyang Daily Art Museum[42]。

Shenyang Campus is located at No. 19, Sanhao Street, Heping District, Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Chinese painting, calligraphy, cultural relics protection and restoration, painting, sculpture, public art, photography, film and television photography and production and other majors are located in the campus[49]。

Dalian Campus is located at No. 39, Jinshi Road, Jinshitan, Jinpu New District, Dalian, and majors in visual communication design, digital media art, arts and crafts, animation, drama, film and television art design, etc[49]。
The gate of Shenyang campus was rebuilt in 1998. The western sketch of human body proportion research (Leonardo da Vinci) and the human body form of Chinese Dunhuang frescoes were ingeniously combined in the campus, forming a complex and simple, concrete and abstract contrast, which reflects the university temperament of Lu and Mei combining east and west[51]。
