The predecessor of the school is the Agricultural Cadre School founded by the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Heilongjiang Province in 1948, upgraded to Heilongjiang Agricultural College in 1950, upgraded to Bei'an Agricultural College in 1956, and started four-year undergraduate education. In 1958, Bei'an Agricultural College, Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University, and the Preparatory Office of Changchun Agricultural College were merged to establish Changchun Agricultural College. Early history

The school was founded in 1948, formerly known as Ximan Branch of the CPC Central Committee Heilongjiang Agricultural Cadre School was founded. [4]
In 1949, Nenjiang Agricultural Cadre School was incorporated. [5]
In 1950, it was changed to Heilongjiang Agricultural College.
In 1956, with the approval of the State Council, Heilongjiang Agricultural College was renamed as Bei'an Agricultural College and started four-year undergraduate education.
In April 1956, the Preparatory Office of Changchun Agricultural College was established. In July, the State Council and the Central Military Commission decided to People's Liberation Army Veterinary University All staff and workers were collectively transferred to local areas and renamed as Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University, with three departments of animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and military veterinary medicine.
In August 1957, the Central Ministry of Land Reclamation handed over the relocation of Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University to the leaders of Jilin Province. During this period, Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province are also planning to adjust Bei'an Agricultural College to Jilin Province. Based on this situation, the Jilin Provincial People's Committee decided that the Preparatory Office of Changchun Agricultural College would not enroll students for the time being, and reported to the Central Committee, requesting that the Bei'an Agricultural College be allocated to Jilin Province and Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University to merge and establish Changchun Agricultural College. On October 28, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Agriculture jointly reported to the State Council for approval to adjust Bei'an Agricultural College to Jilin Province, co founded Jilin Agricultural College with Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University, and tried to relocate the college in the summer of 1958. On November 12, the State Council, the Central Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Agriculture successively replied: "Bei'an Agricultural College and Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University were merged to establish Jilin Agricultural College." In April 1958, Bei'an Agricultural College, Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary University, Preparatory Office of Changchun Agricultural College, etc. were merged to establish Changchun Agricultural College, Zhou Enlai The Premier inscribed the name of "Changchun Agricultural College".

In June 1959, the People's Committee of Jilin Province, in accordance with the spirit of the Notice on Rectifying the Full time and Half day Colleges and Universities Newly Built in 1958 issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, officially changed the name of Changchun Agricultural College to Jilin Agricultural University and Changchun Agricultural Mechanization College to Department of Agricultural Machinery. In March 1960, with the approval of the provincial government, the Department of Agricultural Machinery was separated from the Agricultural University and handed over to the Provincial Bureau of Agricultural Machinery to change it into Changchun Agricultural Machinery College.
In March 1961, the provincial party committee and the provincial government decided to merge Changchun College of Agricultural Mechanization into Jilin Agricultural University again and change it into the College of Agricultural Mechanization of Jilin Agricultural University.
In April 1961, the provincial party committee decided to merge Jilin Specialty College into Jilin Agricultural University and change it into Jilin Agricultural University Specialty College.
In 1962, the Specialty Department of Jilin Agricultural School was incorporated into the Specialty College of Jilin Agricultural University. In August, Specialty College of Jilin Agricultural University was changed to Specialty Department.
In 1976, Jilin Agricultural University was abolished and participated in the merger of Baicheng Agricultural College, Tonghua Agricultural College and Zhelimu League Agricultural College.

After resuming school

In March 1978, Jilin Provincial Revolutionary Committee decided to restore Jilin Agricultural University, Baicheng Agricultural College, Tonghua Agricultural College, Zhelimu League Agricultural College and other three schools of the original Jilin Agricultural University, partly merged to form (restore) Jilin Agricultural University. In June, the school began to move back to Changchun, Jilin Province, the site of Jilin Agricultural University.
The degree and graduate education of Jilin Agricultural University started in 1953. It was interrupted during the Cultural Revolution. In 1978, it resumed to enroll graduate students. In 1981, it became one of the first universities in China with the right to grant bachelor's and master's degrees. In 1993, it became the first university in Jilin Province to obtain the authorization of doctor's degree. [4] [6-7]

As of May 2024, the university has won the second prize of national higher education teaching achievement and one special prize of provincial higher education teaching achievement for nearly two consecutive times; Three textbooks were awarded the National Agricultural Education Excellent Teaching Materials Funding Project, 17 textbooks were approved by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration for the "14th Five Year Plan" construction project, the Jilin Provincial Department of Education for the key teaching materials project construction project, and 23 textbooks were approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for the "14th Five Year Plan" construction project. Mass entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base

As one of the first batch of 50 universities with typical experience in national innovation and entrepreneurship, the first batch of 99 national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and the demonstration base for mass entrepreneurship and innovation in Jilin Province, Jilin Agricultural University has always attached great importance to college students' innovation and entrepreneurship.
The College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park was founded in 2012. Up to now, 97 student entrepreneurship projects have been incubated, including 59 registered enterprises. Among the graduates of the university, we have won the honor of one national 2019-2020 annual news character of college students' employment and entrepreneurship, four annual entrepreneurial characters, seven of the top ten entrepreneurial pioneers of college graduates in Jilin Province, and four of the first batch of entrepreneurial stars in Jilin Province.
On January 10, 2022, it was reported that the new Jilin Agricultural University College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park was officially opened. The newly built College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park covers an area of more than 600 square meters and is composed of six functional areas. It has the functions of innovation and entrepreneurship education and training, experience and practice, business practice, project incubation, demonstration and driving. The new park will jointly promote the incubation and landing of entrepreneurial projects through standardized scientific management, precise entrepreneurial services and differentiated teacher assistance.
