China News Network, Chongqing, April 14 (Han Lu and Niu Zhixin) When Han Han (a pseudonym), who was more than one year old, accidentally fell back from a 30 cm high bench, and the back skull hit the metal nail in the middle of the toy windmill, instantly bleeding. The reporter learned from the Children's Hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical University on the 14th that Han Han is now OK after timely treatment. The doctor said that the metal nail was inserted into Han Han's skull up to 2cm. Fortunately, the dura mater was not pierced, otherwise the child's life would be in danger.

It is understood that on the morning of the 14th, Han Han's parents watched TV on the sofa, while Han Han sat on the small bench and played by himself. Suddenly, Xiaohan stumbles on the bench, her weight is unstable, her body leans back and falls heavily onto the toy windmill on the ground. Unexpectedly, the metal nail used to fix the windmill was facing up, and the nail was directly inserted into the back of Han Han's head. The child was crying in an instant.

When Han Han's father, Mr. Song, heard the news, he immediately reached out to catch Han Han, but did not hold her. "The blood immediately came out, and she cried violently, sobbing and saying, 'Brain pain'. Our family was frightened and rushed to the hospital," Mr. Song said. Mr. Song immediately picked up the child and sent him to the hospital, but the whole windmill was still nailed to the baby's head. The family used scissors to cut off the part around the extra nails.

Guo Hongxi, the resident physician of neurosurgery department, received Han Han's emergency treatment immediately. Through three-dimensional CT examination of the skull, it was found that the nail had punctured the skull for 2cm, but not the dura mater, so she was taken out of the foreign body. "If the injured position moves a little further in the middle, it will hurt the venous sinus, where the blood vessels are very rich, and it is easy to bleed heavily, resulting in intracranial hypertension, which will quickly kill," Guo Hongxi said.

Recently, the neurosurgery department of the Children's Hospital also received several children with brain trauma. Nails, toys, table corners, etc. are all "killers". Dr. Guo reminded parents that children's toys must be put away properly. Children are lively and curious. It is not uncommon for them to be injured or eaten by mistake. If a foreign body is inserted into the brain, it should be immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. Never pull it out by force, otherwise it will not only easily cause secondary injury, but also hinder the doctor's judgment of the condition, making the operation more difficult.
