The sequelae of poliomyelitis, called "infantile flaccidity syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine, are mostly caused by feeling wind, dampness and heat. Their clinical manifestations are similar to colds in the early stage, such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea and limb pain, followed by limb paralysis, muscle atrophy and joint deformity in the later stage.
