Some children's fractures are difficult to find

Two year old Yang Yang stepped on the steps and fell to the ground when playing. After he was lifted up, he kept crying, saying that his legs hurt. His mother hurried to take him to the hospital for examination. After taking X - rays, the doctor diagnosed him as a lower limb fracture.

This is a very vivid saying about the so-called green branch fracture. You can see that the green willow branches are very flexible and can be connected even if they are bent. The characteristic of willow branches is that they break continuously. The same is true of pediatric fractures. Because the children's bones contain much organic matter, the periosteum is hypertrophic, and the elasticity and toughness are very strong, they are also broken constantly in most cases.

Epiphysis is a unique bone structure in children, which can be divided into growth epiphysis and traction epiphysis. The former is related to the growth of epiphysis. When the growing epiphysis is damaged, it is easy to have bone growth disorder or joint deformity. We once interviewed a 3-year-old child whose symptom was that one side of his joint could not be straightened. He had been treated in several hospitals and did not get better. We asked about the medical history carefully, and the parents remembered that when the child was one and a half years old, he fell down from the balcony on the first floor accidentally, and no abnormality was found at that time. In fact, the child's growing epiphysis is caused by injury. As there is no displacement of the injury, it is difficult to diagnose by X-ray, and it will be misdiagnosed as sprain. Therefore, even if there is no obvious abnormality in X-ray film after the child is subjected to external force or falls, if there is persistent pain and swelling in the local part of the limbs, it is also necessary to be alert to the possibility of epiphyseal injury. Parents must pay more attention to their children's growth and development, and regularly go to the hospital for inspection when necessary.
