Can children also get facial paralysis due to fan blowing?

Can children also have facial paralysis due to the blower fan? This kind of thing seems a little incomprehensible to ordinary people, but in pediatrics, children who have facial paralysis due to blowing against fans or air conditioners are received, so parents need to pay attention to it.

Recently, 1-year-old Beibei always got wet when she drank water. At first, Beibei's mother thought that the baby had not held the cup well and spilled his clothes. Later, she found that Beibei's mouth would leak when she drank water from the bottle, and Beibei's mouth was tilted to one side... The doctor told Beibei's mother after examination that Beibei had facial neuritis. It turns out that these days the weather gets hot. When Beibei sleeps and plays, the old people at home always like to turn on a fan. As a result, Beibei is blown into facial neuritis by the fan.

"Facial neuritis is commonly known as facial paralysis." Huang Xiaoyin, a pediatric rehabilitation physiotherapist in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, said, "Frontal blowing and cold are one of the incentives for facial neuritis. When a baby has facial neuritis, his mouth will tilt to one side; when drinking water, there is always water leaking out of one corner of his mouth; When you close your eyes, one of your eyes cannot be closed completely; When the eyes look up, the forehead lines on one side disappear. With careful observation, parents will find that the baby's cheeks on both sides are asymmetrical, and one side is swollen than the other. "

If parents suddenly find that the baby has the above symptoms, it is recommended that parents should take the baby to the hospital. Generally speaking, early comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for facial neuritis, such as drug treatment, physical therapy, functional training, etc., can achieve good results, but if not standardized treatment, the baby may leave sequelae, affect the appearance or cause other functional disorders.

Finally, experts remind parents to pay attention to the fact that no matter the natural wind or the air conditioner or fan, they should never blow directly at the baby. In addition to paying attention to the direction in which the baby receives the wind, the baby also needs proper physical exercise, reasonable diet, and improving his own immunity, which can largely avoid facial neuritis.
