Babies often have colds, but some babies say they have leg pain when they are almost cured of colds. They are unwilling to walk on the ground and limp when walking. This may be due to temporary hip synovitis.

Temporary synovitis of the hip is more common in boys than girls aged 5-10 years. The pathogenesis may be related to virus infection, bacterial infection, trauma and allergy.

Temporary hip synovitis may have cold symptoms before it comes on. When it comes on, there is slight pain in the knee joint and the front inner side of the thigh. After 24 hours, the pain transfers to the hip joint. The child is unwilling to walk down the ground and limps. X-ray examination showed that the hip joint cyst was swollen and the hip joint space was widened. Ultrasound, CT or MRI examination showed that there was fluid in the hip joint.

Temporary hip synovitis is mainly treated by lying in bed and avoiding lower limb weight bearing, and skin traction is needed when necessary; Take vitamin C orally and a small amount of antibiotics; It can also be used for local external application of Chinese medicine or physical therapy to promote the absorption of soft tissue inflammation around joints as soon as possible.

Transient synovitis of the hip has a good prognosis. Generally, symptoms disappear within 3-14 days, and there is no recurrence or sequelae. However, a small number of children diagnosed with transient synovitis of the hip need to be reexamined 2 and 6 months after the onset because the continuous increase of intra-articular pressure affects the blood supply of the femoral head, resulting in avascular necrosis of the femoral head.
