When active babies learn to walk, run and climb, sometimes they will inevitably fall on their faces and occasionally knock their teeth. How should you deal with this?    

First of all, you should make sure that the child has no other injuries (such as head or face) that need urgent treatment. If any, you must go to the emergency room. If his gums begin to bleed, press with a wet gauze for a few minutes (or until the bleeding stops). The frozen popsicle can make the swelling less severe, and can also distract the child's attention from the pain. If you find any abnormality in your baby's gums or teeth in the next week, or notice signs of infection, such as fever, swelling and tenderness, go to the hospital immediately.  

If your baby's teeth and gums look fine and he doesn't seem to hurt, you don't need to go for a dental examination. But if your baby's teeth are damaged or broken, and he feels very painful, you should take him to the dentist immediately, because some nerves may be exposed. If your teeth are very active, you should also go to the hospital immediately to see the dentist. The doctor may decide to pull out the tooth to avoid choking the baby when it falls off on its own. If the baby's teeth seem to be misplaced, he or she should also go to the hospital to have a look. The doctor will decide whether to reset them according to the situation.  

If your baby's teeth are defective, but it does not seem to affect him, you may also want to go to the dentist to see if there are cracks or other damage that you cannot see in the lower part of the teeth.
