Font Introduction

In 2009, Japan's "Information Management Agency" (IPA) authorized the release of "IPA Mincho" and "IPA Gothic" in Sho IPA font. "TB Mincho" Japanese "TB Gothic", designed by Takao Hayashi and exhibited by TypeBank. After years of continuous modification, the double character types "IPAex Mincho" and "IPAex Gothic" have been enriched, including JIS level 1 to 4 characters. "IPAmj Mincho" is a new addition to "IPAex Mincho", including "character information infrastructure", including Chinese characters and other IVD changes.

This project Haze Rush to Song Dynasty "Is a derived font item of" IPAex Ming Dynasty ". On the basis of the original font, the original components and pen shapes are used to add words not included in the original font, and some of the original Chinese characters are adjusted according to the common font styles of the old printing.

At the end of 2020, the project of "Xia Tu Xi Hei" will be established to transform "IPAex ゴシッククククククゴシッククククククゴゴゴ. Later, due to the complexity of inheriting the rules of font parts and time reasons, the "Xia Tu Xi Hei" project was abandoned for maintenance and archiving in July 2021. Due to the recent release and continuous improvement of "Xia Tu Xin Xi Hei" and "Xia Tu Xin Zhi Song", in the spring of 2024, I decided to restart "Xia Tu Xi Hei" and create a new project. On the basis of "Xia Tu Xin Xi Hei/Xin Zhi Song", I will return to the old style of writing, and the original "Xia Tu Xi Hei" will be replaced.

Overall plan

This font is planned to be released in two different font versions.

Classic (CL) edition: referring to the common writing methods of early type printing fonts, return to the old type printing fonts, and merge some different code words differentiated under the principle of "source specification separation".
Modern (MN) version: adopt the eclectic printed font (non regular font) that takes into account the contemporary common pen shape, and strictly follow the principle of "source specification separation".

Collection

The first released "Xia Tu Zhi Song" includes 9810 Chinese characters within the scope of the "International Ideographic Core" (II Core).

What is IICore?

The International Ideographs Core (IICore) is the smallest subset of CJK's unified ideographic code, which contains a total of 9810 commonly used Chinese characters submitted by four regions across the Taiwan Straits, Japan, South Korea, North Korea and other regions, and can be used for devices with limited memory capacity and input/output resources, And/or those applications that cannot use the complete set of ISO/IEC 10646 ideographic characters. IICore contains 9706 basic area Chinese characters, 42 extended area A Chinese characters and 62 extended area B Chinese characters. It was proposed at the 21st IRG meeting in 2003 and adopted at the 22nd IRG meeting in 2004.

Due to personal time and energy, "Xia Du Zhi Song" temporarily only includes 9810 commonly used Chinese characters collected by IICore.

Follow up word adding plan?

In view of the limited coverage of IICore, this font is planned to add JIS Level 1-4 Chinese characters included in the IPAex Ming Dynasty, in addition, it will consider adding the characters included in the "jf 7000 Business Character Set", and the commonly used and sub commonly used characters included in the Common Hong Kong Characters List. It is not considered to be in line with the vocabulary of "Xia Yan Xin Zhi Song".
